If you plan to install this on your 2000 GSR, do not connect the remote starter. With a manual transmission, this can happen:

I hate when people say that. No matter what, there is no exuse for that. If someone moved your car, or borrowed your car, ect, they should know the car has remote start. If anyone even looks at my keys, I say, there is remote start, don't leave it in gear.

Edit and after reading your thread, if your dad moved your car, and you lived with him, he should FOR SURE know that the car has remote start.

And to the OP, don't go cheap on the alarm, if you do what's the point of having one. Get a DEI Viper or Python.

DEI also makes Hornet. So it is not a cheap alarm/starter.

Make no mistake: that wreck is not my car. They do make remote start systems for manual transmissions, the Hornet 564T is not one of them. (Cannot find a manual, but multiple retail sites specify automatic transmission.) Installing a remote start system that is meant only for an automatic transmission onto a manual transmission car is simply asking for trouble. It can happen, it does happen.

Perhaps Directed Electronics's site has more information:
http://www.directed.com/securi...y.asp

They make mention of a built in turbo timer. Not sure if that means that it is has fail safes for operation in a manual equipped car.

I don't think you guys realize that Hornet is made by the same company (DEI) that makes Viper, Python, and Clifford. The only problm that I see is that he is buying it off of ebay=no warranty!

If you aren't concerned about warranty issues, go ahead. I always like warranties It's just you're taking a risk. Also, that post said they are not an authorized DEI dealer. Find someone who is an authorized DEI dealer
