Default LS auto tranny strength??

Procuring a auto LS 2 door next week for a daily/project car and it is, sigh, an auto, but I'm getting it at a GREAT price.

I was wondering if the stock auto trans can withstand any modifications, such as a jackson racing s/c...or perhaps a low boost turbo setup w/o completely grenading itself...

Or if there is anyone who has built/offers an upgrade..

I've seen the threads on swapping to a 5 speed, but geez...

Well, it's not a matter of saving, this car is available, and I'm getting it for a good price....too good to pass up, period. I just won't be able to go as far with it as I'd liked...I'll just spend the money on the bike...

lol, there are plenty of turbocharged automatic cars out there, heck an automatic i GREAT for a turbo car if the tranny can handle it , just wondering if the 'teg's transmission has ever been tested/used on a turbo or superchaged setup.

See above post regarding your "buy a stick..." comment.

that's not true i think my first car was a da auto and i abused the f*** out of it. for 3 years. doing burn out up to 60mph reverse donuts ebrake drifting. still ran like a beauty after i sold it. the car is still running with no problem with the trany. so i say auot trany can take the abuse. if u take care of it also. it's like the whole car if u going to abuse it u have to take care of it to make it last.my two cents

I agree. I drive an auto and i abuse it too. I downshift going into turns and passing people, I revmatch. I think it's fast for an auto... but the tranny is holding up well. I say go for it, boost it and let us know to prove all the guys bashing autos wrong.

There is a write up on a guy that had his auto tranny rebuilt for racing duties. It on team-integra.net some were. There was a link to it on here too. I have a auto da with a sir-g vtec auto tranny. I was using a ls-vtec set up on it as well. Good thing is that the auto sir-g vtec tranny comes with lsd. Yes there are vtec auto out there too. well mostly in japan The car runns great and will keep up with the gsr out here. But the lanuch in different. Its good for bracket racing thou. Is fun to hear how vtec work in the car. It trips out the 5 speed guys. If you are trying to go all out race get the 5 speed swap. Not to hard to do. imo you can only go so far with the auto. I say go for it make it the first auto to run 11's. I would If I had the time

ive read up on a lot of auto turbocharged cars here. just search and youll find lots of posts. some things i picked up on doing was upograding the torque converter to level10's torque covnerter. strengthen/treat the internals and doing some "main valve" job? i read it somewhere on here.

Awesome guys, thanks for all the replies. I am looking forward to getting started. I'd like to stick more to the Jackson racing setup to keep that INSTANT response off the line that an auto already provides, plus, wanting to AutoX the car I'd like to have that b/c of the balance.

It's only an LS, but I'm looking forward to getting started on it.

I'll do another search for auto turbo cars, but Iwas unsuccesful the first couple tries.

most honda tegs come with the oil cooler in the radiator. If not all. Thats why you can not use a 5 speed rad in a auto. I selling my car I'll hit you with my auto lsd gsr tranny for cheap

Just because you beat the crap out of your auto tranny doesnt show how much HP it can handle. For an EXAMPLE if there was a turbo b16 running on a stock MT and stock clutch @ 400hp... i dont think it would last long... but you could beat on that same tranny all day long if it was stock/bolt ons....

when i was looking for a teg, there was a guy selling a auto turbo integra and it seemed to run fine... i still keep in touch with him and he says the tranny handled it fine. I think he was running 10lbs of boost if i can remember right.
