Default B20B need HELP with b-series transmission search

i have a B20B in my 95 coupe i bought it this way from a asain dude.. and he told me its a jdm integra cable transmission... im thinking its from the late integra B18's but unsure about it, and neither was he....

now the problem is in fifth gear at 100km/h im JUST under 4000rpm

what i wanna know is the possible b-series transmissions that are out there and there gear ratios...

anybody from experience or hearsay know what transmission (CABLE or HYDRO) would be best for still having a fun gear ratio, but at the same time idle lower on the highway....id preffer the best for both before i decide to do the hydraulic conversion

im lookin for more like 150km/h and under 4000rpm

ANY help would be greatly appreciated, i did search the forums and came up with nothin

you could pull the trans and put an LS 5th gear in, or your other option would maybe be a gsr tranny.

i really want to say...you have a GSR tranny(b17 for cable, i also heard special gold badge LS tranny which has short gears)... because 150km is 95 mph. that sound about right with my hydro tranny... either that or you have a B16 tranny...so question

"what i wanna know is the possible b-series transmissions that are out there and there gear ratios..."

you have 2 options...1) is to get an LS tranny with longer gears...or like what pat92si said...you can change your 5th gear out with an LS 5th gear, and you will have the best of both worlds 1-4 short gears with a cruise 5th gear

well if you plan on keeping it cable the best you can do is get a 92-93 teg tranny ys1.
The hydro tranny 5th gear set will not fit into a cable tranny case.
With th etranny i have at bout 60-62 the rpm will be at about 3200.
This is a S1 tranny.

62mph at 4k would drive me crazy.

my goal is along the lines of 95mph and under or equivelant to 4000rpm...... right now im at like 65mph at JUST under 4000rpm

sound like the gsr trans? all the guy told me is that its jdm and integra... so the gold badge sounds rare... it has a bunch of written japanese writing on it... im going to try and get a code off the tranny to further tell me what trans im running

untill then.. any other suggestions??

theres a good possibility it is the LS special gold badge.... in that case should i just use a regular USDM 5th gear out of the b18?

how well does the GSR transmission perform for what im looking to expect?

hey
what size tires are you running?
The overall diameter of the tire will make a difference.
The stock integras run about a 23" overall diameter.
I know you have a civic but that tranny came from a teg.
A tire diameter less tha 23" will increase your rpms at any given speed.
Yeah I know this is way out there but one must cover all bases.

sounds like the jdm integra xsi, or rsi? trans. wheel/tire size indeed makes a difference. its most likely the trans off of a cable b16 from either an integra xsi rsi or civic sir. my friend has the exact same setup b20b with xsi trans, its pretty nice imo but yah its a little noisy on the freeway. i got the hydro b16a its pretty much the same, i kindof like not having to downshift all the time when i wanna go.

yea i know exactly what your saying... i dont have any complaints, other then high reving on the highway.. the car goes like snot and no downshifting is needed, even at 30mph'ish up hills... just trying to figure out what trans im running, and if someone could drop me a link to some b-series gear ratio's would be really nice...
i was checkin out the tranny i definatly dont think its the ys1.. but could be wrong.. im thinking its the "special gold badge ls trans" that JDMFreak mentioned.............. it has a gold sticker on it reading S1-1063131 if that means anything

anyone?

i was rocking a b20 vtec and i had a b16 tranny. thats where i sat about...even in 5th on the freeway it was high rpms...downside is obviously fuel economy. upside...if you race then you dont need to downshift. but i agree with jdmfreak. possibly a b16 tranny cause thats how mine is.

Tire size makes no difference in the readings at your gauge cluster.

The speedo and tach are driven by the transmission. Tire size would affect his actual speed, but he could have 20s or 13s, and 65mph is still at 4000rpms.

Tire diameter not rim size makes the difference. It alters gear ratios to a degree.

The tranny i have also has a gold sticker with the s1-*******#'s
I know its from a usdm integra so I guess you do have a B16 tranny.
Yeah, it is nice being able to pull away from others in 5th without downshifting.
Acceleration has to feel great with the tranny you have.

oh yeah i tried this today.
73-75mph @ 4k.+/- a few rpm.

I hope you find the tranny you want.
