Scraping sound engaging 1st gear
I recently been hearing a scraping sound when i am engaging first gear usually when the car is first started and isnt completely warmed up and when i am on an incline where the car will roll back a bit. It does do it sometimes when the car is warm and on a flat surface but its not as common.
Its when im letting off the clutch and giving gas I hear a scraping.. anyone know what it could be? this is really starting to annoy me and i wanna catch the problem before
and im driving a 2000 honda prelude with 118,xxx KM's on it

is it rpm dependent?
so if i get this correctly, it only happens when you are on an inclined and accelerating from a stop?
i dunno if i understand what you mean by scraping.

Does the 5th gen tranny have 1st gear synchros?
From the way he described the issue, he is getting into gear fine. It's when he lets the clutch out is when he hears the noise, right?
The first two things that pop into my head are:
-Throwout bearing is making the noise
-One of the springs in your clutch disk popped out and it is getting caught somewhere.
Either way, I would start saving for a clutch replacement. You might be due one soon. Better to be prepared for it.

Mine does the exact same thing. It happens maybe 1 in 20 starts from a stop. 95km on the clutch/car. Car has been functioning for maybe 20 thousand km like this with no problems that I've noticed.
good to know im not the only one... wish i knew what it could be.. i've got a bumper to bumper warranty with honda for 30,000 more KM's but i dont see them tearing the tranny apart to find the problem
