Default HVAC (vent) selector doesn't work

1997 SH

Heating and Air Conditioning Vent position selector (where the air blows)

So when i push the buuton to select air to my feet or say defrost, the light illuminates correctly but the air doesn't switch to where it should. It may or may not switch the next few times I start the car, so something is either worn out or or intermittently working.

Any had to troubleshoot this yet? Thanks in advance!

Default Re: HVAC (vent) selector doesn't work (AuburnRyan)

The 4th gens had a problem with the connections and solder in the unit. They had the smae problem the light would light up correctly but it would change with a delay or not at all.

Mine I would have to hit the top of the dash for it to change. I had the problem on a 92 with 220k and its starting to happen on my 95 with 160k.

The solution for the 4th gens was to open it up resolder the connections and put it back together.

honda had a lot of problems with solder not making a good connection after years. ie main relay, climate control, 4th gen 4ws unit.
