Tires-cause im broke but don't wanna die
Ok so.
Im on my second set of Potenza SO-2s. I love them, but the steel is about to poke through the tread.
Last time, my dad was nice enough to hook me up with a new set of SO-2s, but now i'm on my own.
Since S2KI is down, what do you guys recommend?
I heard i have to go 245/45 in the back, what should i go in the front?
Remember, i want decent performance but i don't wanna spend a bajillion dollars.
Thanks in advance.

yes i is.
yes i is.
In that case, just stick to what honda says and go with the oem sizes. The S2K's suspension is tuned very well tuned and the size of the tires is a major contributing factor of this. Once you throw on different size tires, you can harm the handling. Honda did there homework on the S, and know what they are talking about...so I would go with what they recommend for tires on the oem rims.
Oh and yes, technically the SO2's 225 is equivalent to a 245 in other brand tires. So I would say, and I'm sure most people on s2ki would agree, that if you change to a different brand tire for the rear, then go with a 245.
Hope I was able to help.

I have 205/55 and 245/45 Fuzion ZRis....made by Bridgestone...for daily use. They are good in the rain and good enough in the handling department to keep me happy. I have an extra set of OEM wheels with S02s mounted for track days and group drives....that extra bit of grip is amazing.
Call Jim Holloman at the Tire Rack for a great deal on the ZRis....I paid a little bit over $200 shipped to my door for the two rears last time. He gives S2KI members a fairly good deal.

either for daily use.....
however, the hankook will wear a little faster, but offer a little mor grip

so2's are getting harder and harder to come across now. i would get a set of potenzas, or maybe something all season since winter is coming up.
Not sure if you know, but Tirereack still has some Potenzas RE050A on close out sale, but not all the sizes anymore. Are you looking for 16s or 17s? They still have the 245/45YR17 for under $100 each.
i have run a few sets so far on my car,
dunlop SP9000s - good traction, not so great life
goodyear Eagle F1s - better traction, life was about the same
Toyo T1Rs - (current) so far traction is great, haven't been to the track with these yet, only about 500miles on them, But i'm happy

here's your answer, it seems for the money and performance you can't get anybetter than this,
unless you get lucky and buy some ap1's for cheap with good tires.

^^^Agreed. Moemers. The best bang for the buck is the Hankook Ventus Rs2's. One of the best tires, i've ever driven on soo far. I liked these alot better then my Azenis RT215's that were on my Eg2.
You can either run the above the set up mentionsed above, or if you wanna go beefier, i've seen up to 225 up front, and still, the 245 in the rear

I just ordered the RE050A's from TireRack for my AP1....$80 a tire is too good to pass up for a high-end tire. I was looking at my past TireRack invoices and I got all 4 tires shipped for what 2 rear S02's cost me not shipped!

I loved my RE050's too. Looking forward to trying out the RT615's at Laguna Seca

Went with standard AP1 sizes, I checked out the specs on Bridgestone and the sizes are close enough (for me at least) to not have to lose sleep over it for street use...

yeah, about $400 shipped is pretty damn good. so hard to pass up.... but not sure if i want stock or 17" size... thinking about getting some work cr kai's...
hmmm....
well it looks like id have to get the pole positions if i went with 17" anyway. and even though they are on sale too, itd still be $560 plus shipping for the right sizes.
pretty much 50% more of the cost of the stock 16". not looking as attractive to get 17" right now...

hey, since these are on closeout and at a great price, do you think its a good idea to get an extra pair of rears only? since there seems to be a 1:2 ratio on wear F:R?
thoughts anyone? do you find that a consistent ratio?
and is Front 205/55WR16 Rear 225/50WR16 even the right tire size for aftermarket tire fitment?
im recalling that thread on s2ki about the rear S02's being underrated and oversized to its nominal size.

Speaking from experience, I would not call it a recommendation...I would call it absolultely necessary. The difference in a 225 non-S02 and a 245 non-S02 is like night and day.
