Default Motor Smoking

I drive a 97 civic with a stock d16y7 motor. This motor has about 128,000 miles. I have notice and so have other people notice that when I take off in first that my car puts out this blue cloud of smoke. I am going to do a swap come the first of the year I just need this motor to last me until then. oh yeah btw I burn oil very fast. I will fill it up at the begining of the week and by the end of the week the oil level is low to the point there is just a drop of oil on the dipstick.

OK, well just keep a close eye on the oil level and add some when you need it until you do your swap.

What else do you need to know?

Use cheap oil?

blue smoke is oil, so the rings are probably shot.

yup i would put money on it. many people always try and blame valve stem seals but on hondas they very rarely leak or get bad enough to cause major oil consumption. rings are prolly shot and each time you run it low on oil it just eats them up even more. theres no real fix unless you replace them....at this point it will only get worse and prolly at a fast rate. i'd get on that swap....jeez this thread is still so pointless
