you need a P2P ecu and hardwire the vtec to the ECU.

you need the d16y8 ecu and you will need to pass a wire from the ecu to the vtec controller yourself

so i can just get a y8 ecu and run a wire from the ecu to the vtec controller instead of getting a new wiring harness

next time you get the motor try and get the ECU and Motor out of the same car along with the wiring harness makes everything sooo much simpler..

Use an 96-98 EX wiring harness and ECU.

That'll have everything including the plugs for the VTEC and everything you need to run the Y8 flawlessly without any hackwork.

Specifically, you will need to run 4 wires if you do not use an EX harness.

ECU to VTEC solenoid
ECU to VTEC oil pressure switch
VTEC oil pressure switch to ground
ECU to knock sensor

If you do use an EX harness

Then you have to deal with the 4 wires going to your secondary HO2 sensor since these wires are not included in an EX harness. That's because in an EX the 2nd HO2 sensor is underneath the car after the cat as opposed to the DX which has it located after the cat that's integrated into the exhaust manifold.

Either way it's 4 wires.

If your DX is a hatchback then there are additional issues.
