Default best Auto-X setup

I got some $$ to burn and want to know:
What is the bestest, baddest Autocross setup for the Type R if money was no object (don't say trade for a Kart).
Headers, exhaust, CAI, Khumo's.....

I'm not sure how experienced you are, but I'd start with an Evolution autox school

Upgrading the driver is the best thing you can do...

Then tell us what class you are running and we can go from there...

im pretty sure if we knew, everyone would have it try some stickier tires, better brake pads and fluid, and some practice

best autocross setup: a drivers school at a road course. then you'll be asking about "the best road course setup" and wont care much about autocross....jmho

Ah, roadracing with a car you're still making payments on and with no cage. My idea of a good time And, those $300 + roadrace schools every month are easy $$ also.

Roadracers bag on autoxers because roadracers can't autox very well Autox teaches you car control and limitations. Very important if you ever decide to make the leap.

Jon nailed it. Driver mod is the best. I get spanked by Hracer (very experienced roadracer and autoX-er). And, we're not talking about modded cars... just stock ITRs.

Very true. It has taken me a good two years to finally come into my own, and I'm not nearly as good as what I can/should be.

The thing I like about autox is the direct measured competition. Unless you're running SoloI or fender-to-fender roadracing, you don't get too much of that at a track event.

Someday when I have more money I'll start roadracing. Until then, autox gives me enough cheap thrills to keep me satisfied.

ABSOLUTELY!!!

Start with a stock R with STOCK rubber and learn this way BEFORE you make the leap to modding yourself into a different class. One of the most glorious things about the ITR is that it IS sooo competitive right out of the box.

Then, start modding... The future will hold road course, PDA and time trials for you soon enough.

Drivers win the races, the car is just a tool along for the ride!

A.

Stick some race rubber on the R, and do some driving schools. The R is super capable right out of the box, and more than the average driver will be able to take full advantage of.

I think autocross is a great way to learn your car, spend $25 and have a fun afternoon. but the actual driving leaves me unsatisfied. i want to use more than just 2 gears.....

autocross
track driving
street racing

I agree with Brian, to a point. I started off doing track events before I ever autocrossed. I had a blast and really got hooked on it, but the track events were expensive and were taking a toll on my car, plus, to do it right, I needed to get alot of safety equipment (rollbar, etc). Nowadays, i do 3-4 track events a summer, but autocross just about every other weekend. Its alot cheaper, and its less maintenance on my car. I get the same rush from autocross, but it only lasts about a minute at a time

"best auto cross setup is a good driver" yea in a type R ...... ........ if you were driving a civic dx there may be some worth while improvments. The type R is a great car just drive it and have fun. If your not running the best time in auto cross dont knock it auto cross
