Probably not. I got a lot of pull overs because of my N1, it's very loud. Even if you do pass the exam a cop can still bust your ***** - pull you over and such.

My opinion:
If you live out on Cali don't go for it :-\

dude ive been pulled over twice for my exhaust, and guess what it is... A Greddy Evo, one of the most quiet exhaust systems out there. And to add to that i have a full turbo wich quiets the exhaust even further!
I guess what im trying to say is that if a cop wants to pull you over he'll pull you over regardless if your exhaust is DB legal Street legal or CARB legal. thats how it is in Cali at least

Well i mean i was just wondering cuz i keep hearing peopke getting hassled by the popo and out here is different(massachussetts).IDK about CA but here there arent that many cops, you dont see them often, they hide somewhere and wait for someone to pass the speed limit in a dark street at night. They dont care about exhaust much, never heard about someone getting pulled over. Its so ghetto that you often see honda accords with real loud exhausts and they can just drive normally in front of a cop and they wont do anything. They make a hole in the muffler so it sounds loud(rice) but some come out good.Even so the police still wont do anything.Glad to live in MA

Think you're under the implication that I live in CA. I live in NY, I know exactly what you mean.

I still get hasseled from time to time but they're just repeated warnings. Haven't gotten a fix-it ticket for it yet.

I had a n1 on my del sol and it was obnoxiously loud. I live next to fram and never had a problem in fram, but stay away from Ashland and any state highways where troopers patrol. I had a cop in Ashland tell me that it was illegal to modify your exhaust in anyway and staties pull me over every time I'm on the highway

I wouldn't say that to anyone in JDM land(Japan)

And anything aftermarket, aka modified in anyway to the car, is not legal.
Ect. suspesion, exaust, intake, blah blah. Granted not all cops will get you for it.

They way they mod cars in japan isn't JDM. It's J-Spec .... and as far as the american asthecic, J-Spec is hella rice. Pink cars, huge drift wings, deep moth body kits, etc.

Saddest thing I've ever read.

Neither of them are going to net any decent power, but one of them is going to sound rhaspy and farty.

Food for thought.

PS - I don't have a WS2, I have a Tanabe SMH.

Okay true. But that means you're saying that Cars in the U.S. with Japanese parts isn't considered the Americanized J-spec? Or JDM. Not all cars in Japan are drift cars. I see what you're saying though. But still it all depends on personal preference.

Sorry, you probably didnt get my point take this example:

Lets say my goal is 300hp,i have a b18c5 and as long as i get mods such an intake, exhaust, headers, turbo and whatnot, ill get 300hp no matter how many things i have to upgrade, as long as I have some must-have parts like the N1 for looks and a slight performance increase then ill be ok.Looks need to come with performance, RICE VS SLEEPER. Bling chromes wheels might look better but i can make up with power instead of going with lightweight forged te37's with a little less power get it? Even if the N1 isnt the best out there, the slight hp gap between another muffler can be made up with some mod. I dont need to build a car to squeeze maximum power out of a b18c5 and have like 670hp,300 is fairly ok without going to wild and unreliable. Its hard to explain but the bottom line is that as long as you reach your power goal, then its ok to get parts for other purposes.
