Default Another Problem with my lude...:(

Well i put the main relay on and car starts up fine now. I was driving home last night from the gym and the temp gauge shoots up to max. I immediately pull over pop the hood and yup- it wasn't just the gauge. So i let it cool for a while call a friend to bring some water- when we open the radiator cap, its almost full of water- it only took like a small glass full. Could it be a bad thermostat or a waterpump? And should i bypass the T-stat? i know of a few people that have done it...and the car is fine- whats the purpose to just bypass it they dont seem expensive. Man...i bought a lemon lol.

Don't bypass the thermostat. The coolant can run too cool and the motor won't get up to operating temperatures. T-stats can go from time to time. Just replace it, they're pretty cheap.

It was still full because the coolant was still hot (unless you guys waited hours for ir to cool down). If you had let the car cool off completely you could see the true level that the coolant is at in the overflow tank.

Probably is a good idea to change the thermostat and then bleed the air out and see if that does it...

Just curious, but when did you talk change the water pump? If changing the thermostat doesn't help, that's where you should probably look next

Yeah pretty much go down the cooling system. Thermostat, water pump, radiator cap.

cool thanx for the help guys. i checked the water level before i started and it was low- actually there was almost no coolant. Im thinkin maybe theres an air bubble or something cuz its been overheating every so often? Anyways i was just told from the previous owner that the radiator had some problems but he took it to get fixed. A friend just wrecked his lude so i might just get everything off his car like the radiator but i will buy a new t-stat tomorrow first thing.

Side note- My ac fan isn't spinning to its full "potential". I told my friend, the one that crashed his lude, if i could buy the one off his car. He said yeah but he has just one big fan connected to the radiator. Did any preludes come with 1 fan that works with ac as well? Im confused anyways thanx.
