I don't think I've ever seen one with that cut in it. I would take it back and play it safe.

that normal, at least from the ones I have seen. I purchased few new rotors of acura, and some had it, some did not !

sometimes they place metal wires in-side of the vent holes to balance them (vs. machining them).

I believe they use that on some rotors so you know how much you can machine them without over doing it.

I bought some Brembo rotors off a guy on HT and there was a sizable nick missing from the face of the rotor on the outer edge.....It has gotten a little bigger....fark

I noticed the same thing on rotors i bought a while back and brought them back only to be told that it was normal and was for balance...i was figuring it wasnt a piece missing as the both faces of the disc were cut exactly the same and there was no rough edge like a bit had chipped out of it but i wanted to be sure....fitted them and they were fine.

i would not call those defective.............just well used

edit: and part of the reason they do not offer a lifetime warranty anymore
