Default ATF in a 4sp MT?

I have heard from reliable sources that i can use ATF (automatic tranny fluid) in my manual tranny. Normally i wouldnt bother asking this but since i have enough laying around, and i have no gear/motor oil laying around. Could i use this for say a couple hundred miles? I dont see it hurting anything. It will be changed out say next paycheck. Yes ill get MTF from honda. Thanks in advance

I wouldn't try it use it as motor cleaner

Just run gm snyrcomesh, or heck those trannys run off normal motor oil, to me it's stunning.

I am not 110% sure what ATF is made up of, but I know it holds alot of deturgeants and the such, hence propprly used it can clean a motor like seafoam,i've used this trick on my old truck and few other cars/trucks.

I'm not quite sure what kind of oils and what viscostiy they have in the tranny..

Me i'd honestly not gamble unless your old oil is mad foul if its just to friday reuse it.

Maybe some one who knows exactly what ATF is made of can shed more light.

i wouldnt use atf. Its not worth risking your tranny for a saving of 4 bucks in 10w30.

I use to work at jiffy lube and one of the guys that work with me, put dex3 (another type of auto trans fluid) in an HF trans by shear stupidity and it was'nt driving or shifting properly. when we switched back to reg 10w30 it got a little better but still wasnt quite right, we ended up flushing it 6 more times and also added 4 oil cleaners until he said it was how the customer remembered before the atf mishap. I wouldnt do it but its your trans.

the dexron in the ATF messes with honda manual trannys, because honda trannys are real picky about the fluid you use in them.

my 0.02 dont.
