Default type r for $6500 but..........

well there is a local guy thats selling selling his 98 type r for $6500. only thing is that it was rear-ended. the body work is basically taken care of, but it still needs a new paint job. also it has 148k miles on it. he says the head was rebuilt recently but it still feels a lil bit old and tired, but ive never driven a type r before so i dunno if thats how its supposed to be. So would you guys jump on this? a type r that needs some(actually alot) of body work and a general tuneup/fix mechanical errors.

im guessing its a salvage title? i would personally just buy a clean shell for cheap. structural integrity sounds compromised. the engine already sounds "tired" anyway from your description.

Get it!!! Even if it needs paint, who doesn't have hookups on paintjobs these days?

If the motor seems "tired" but doesn't seem to have any real damage to it, and the compression is good on it considering the mileage, who cares? Rebuilds aren't that expensive. Work the seller down on the price a bit if you are really that concerned.

Either way, it's worth buying, IMO.

Got a link so someone else could take a look? I'm sure there are plenty of folks on here who could rescue that car, especially for that price with a clear title.

other then the body damage it was throwing codes and the gears kinda grinded. After all the money spent to get it back to tip top shape i could have as well just saved more and bought one that would require less work.

I emailed the guy, im gonna try and jump on this car as fast as possible. I was ready to pay 8000 for a salvage on ebay about a week ago. This is a much better deal.

Called the guy today, and went to the bank for a loan. Looks like( if everything goes according to plan...) R # 1101 will soon belong to me.
