Default advance the timing?

Okay, the run down, I have a 1989 Honda CRX Si with a JDM d15b motor(obd-1), and **** anyway, my car is definately running rich, i just put new spark plugs in 2 days ago, the 02 sensor is IN, i am not sure how to test if its working or not. i was told try to advance my timin g, but how do it do that? what will i need? my car gets shitty gas mileage and u can smell the gas at idle. its damn rediculous . anyway, ANY and ALL information will help and i am really trying to get this fixed, thanks ahead of time.

Default Re: advance the timing? (v8Buster)

you would need a timing light..did you put the motor in it without setting the timing? or did you never take the distributor out? i have the same motor, are you running a p28? with a p28 it runs a tad rich but nothing noticeable, i would set the timing or pay someone to set the timing. i never took the distributor out but the timing was still off.
