kyokugen lugs-lock=universal?!?
i was ready to order some kyokugen lug nuts in black...then i read the small print which says "keys are universal." i was like "WTF?" does anyone have these lugs? what do you to prevent theft of your rims? use kyokugen and change out one lug to a lock style lug???
They are 7-sided lugs (as opposed to the conventional 6 sides). Therefore, they can be used as a "locking" lugs. i believe what they meant by universal was that if you have a key for a set of kyokugen's, you can go and take off another set Kyokugen's (unlike locks such as McGard's which have several keys).
dont get them... i had them for a while... the key is very easy to stripp... i was lucky to get them off!!! worst investment for my car... think physics: the more side u have, the less of an angle u have to put resistance on...

I hear theyre only easy to strip if you use the key with airtools, or overtighten them.
And yes, my Kyokugen key will unlock your wheels...get it?

Mcgard and Gorilla make some as well...but thats not a big deal about the key IMO. Wheel locks aren't impossible to get off (or even that difficult) either, you know.
nonono... if u have more sides, the the key has less to "hold" onto... u know what i mean? To exaggerate, its like using a hex key to undo a circular object... no sides...

Like someone said, they are 7-sided, and universal among all Kyokugen keys. So a potential wheel theif would go up to the Import shop, buy the key for $20, and now have full access to any kyokugen equipped car.
I had them on my $1800 regamasters and was lucky to not have them stolen...
I researched it prior to buying them, and found that for about $50, you can buy a "wheel lock remover" kit incase you "lost your wheel lock key"...It was supposed to work for any kind of lock, so I figured that if the theives had the kyokugen key, they probably had that one too..
I bought the kyokugens because they were the only lug I could find in silver to match my wheels...
Never had a problem tightening them or loosening them (never overtorqued them, and used the lug wrench in the fully seated position).

Agreed...a Kyokugen lug will stop the theives as much as a wheel lock will. If they're "in the know" enough to go buy the key, Im sure they know how to get a damn wheel lock off.
If you're that worried, just use one of your current Mcgard or whatever wheel lock in conjunction with the Kyokugens. I dont even think of them as a deterrent, but I guess they are.
