Ok this one seems obvious but im jsut double checking. When i do some really hard cornering for a period of time, there are a couple really good roads in my city that just go on for a long time of sharp turns back and forth we some good straight aways followed by more turns. I occasionally get the engine check light coming on. I checked the manual and it says it could be oil pressure, which i believe it is. when i comes on i find a place to pull over, turn the car off and start it up again. It stays off until much more hard turning. Now i bought a oil temp and pressure gauge recently but have not installed them yet. Im guessing i could use a new oil pan too to keep the pressure high, am i wrong. what should i do?
sorry this is sort of off topic, but is the red maintenance required thing under the speedo/tach the check engine light? i'm still sort of unfamiliar with my 5G

honestly i have no clue, i have a 4th gen sorry cant help you. mine is just some yellow light that pops up
no its not your check engine light, its seperate it tells you when you need to take it to the dealer oh man guys........for the 5th gen i have one too, when that maitainace turns from green to yellow MAKE AN APPOINTMENT ASAP when it goes to red thats bad. take it into the dealer right away and get the special deal done on it............how many klm or miles do you have on it? those lights are the best indacation for a tune up.......oil change, check breaks, liquids, tires, everything its a great deal.

ok well then its all good, it has only poped up about 2 or 3 times, and i havent been driving it at all really. I know its due for a good tune up and im buying all the parts needs right now and then will take it in for the tune. it ran perfect compression and the engine is in great shape. i just know it does need new plugs wires and a new timing belt. Same with my filter. thanks for the info cars parked for now anyways so wont need to worry about it for a while thanks
damn haha it's red, i just filled it with oil, had it to the dealer not even a week ago to have them replace the trans fluid and clutch fluid, they didn't mention the maintenance thing, it has 83,000 on it, can i reset it back to green myself?

HAHAHAHA, I feel unconfortable when my engine light is OFF, i'm so used to it being on. The maintenance reqired light means absolutely jack ****. It is based on the mile counter. It starts counting when it's reset (or the car is brand new) then turns yellow after X amount of miles, then Red after X amount more. It is not in any way connected to anything in your engine, just your odometer. Your guage cluster has a stock oil pressure light, if your oil pressure is low it will start blinking, but by the time your stock oil light comes on... its over, its set way low (7.5 psi).
Back you your problem. I do know that hard cornering may cause an oil problem if you simply don't have enough oil. If your going to do some hard cornering, definitely make sure you have plenty of oil (at least full on the marker) because that oil is going to be sloshing around in the pan. If you do some hard cornering when you've got like 1-2 quarts, you might starve your pickup in a hard corner wich is bad news.

back to the original question, you MIGHT have issues with your oil pressure, does your car drop out of vtec mid corner? a way to remedy this is to use a baffled oil pan
