Default Fresh install! Alpine 9857

Thanks to the advice of some members here as well as the shop owner, I made a second guess at the 9855. I ended up going with the 9857 and so far (an hour has passed) im rather pleased.

I need to either install my large, cumbersome box with two tens in it or get a new box with a single ten or a twelve. I haven't decided on components yet. My options are limited if I choose to stay with the stock size due to shallow doors.

On with the pics. (cliffs version of an install)

Start with

Grab your soldering iron and other tools.

New Deck and wiring harnesses.

Cut and paste the harnesses.

and you get to put it all back together now!

I have never done speakers before myself, so if I tackle that it will certainly be an experience.

The stock unit sounds ok. It really does. But ok just isnt good enough. It skips at the slightest threat of a scratch, doesn't have XM, Doesnt play WMA or MP3, no sub control, no pre outs, etc etc etc etc etc and this does.

Easy. Pick up a desent amp kit for what your using. Power from the battery, (make sure you fuse it within the first 6 inches), RCA's and remote turn-on from the headunit, and run the power wire seperate of the RCA's and remote turn-on down opposite sides of the car. You'll need a ground from the amp going to a seat belt bolt, or similar and speaker wires going to your box. Done deal.

speakers are pretty easy bro. Pull the stockers out, unplug em, plug the new ones in and put all the plastic back on. I guess the real challenege is figuring out how your door comes apart.

Clean deck install

OT: I have had the 9856 for a few months now and I find myself dissapointed. Although it looks very sexy, the deck itself doesn't even have an EQ (9857 doesn't either). The 9856 and 9857 looks exactly the same besides the screen layout and font. If I had to choose again, i wouldn't have purchased any 06 Alpine decks.

It looks like you did a really clean install.

Really clean install. I do not like the 2006 lineup models either. But I really like how you can push in the ****, about the only thing I like on the 06 models.
