type r exhaust question
I know I saw a picture of this and read something about it. But I cant remember what the heck I searched to find it. Hopefully someone can help me out.
Is the type r 2.25 mandrel bent piping? And if someone has the pictures I saw of the stock gsr rear section next to the type r i'd like to see that again.
I am thinking about purchasing a type r rear section and I wanted to make sure theres a piping difference. The first place I talked to tried to tell me the exhaust on the Type R & GSR are the same.

The place you talked to DOESN'T KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT!!!!!!!!. There is a big difference between the GS-R/LS exhaust and the TYPE R exhaust. First is that the GS-R/LS is 1.75" in diameter piping and the TYPE R is 2.25". Plus the bends in the GSR/LS are not mandrel bent like the ITR's.
I know that the GSR and LS have the same exhaust because my friend and I both got ITR exhaust installed on our cars.

You can check out my website though. The pics haven't worked for some, but they may work for you.
Both the b-pipe and the axle-back muffler sections fit just the same on the Type-R and my LS. You can swap either one or both of them and it'll fit. The rubber exhaust hangers are a lot easier to get on/off the ITR pieces than their LS counterparts, but they look like they're stay on just as well if not better.
I had my ITR muffler on for about a week before I put on the b-pipe and DC header, and I noticed a slight improvement. It felt like it picked up better when I punched the gas (like right after an up-shift). It wasn't a huge difference and I didn't notice it at first, but I definately felt an improvement after driving it for a bit. I installed a DC 4-2-1 and the ITR b-pipe on Saturday, and they make an instantly noticable improvement. It hauls *** now.
I noticed my catalytic convertor sits a little towards the passenger side now. It was rubbing on a metal thing on the car that sits above the cat, so I had to bend that to the side a little so it wouldn't hit. I think that was due to by header more than the exhaust though.
