whats the widest size slick I can run on a 8" wide rim??
depends on the tire. Some slicks that are 9" wide will require an 8" rim. There's 10" wide tires that people have run on an 8" wide rim. Look at the specs from the manufacturer to see what they recommend.
i know this isn't the answer, but the wheel width isn't the only factor.keep in mind interference with the spindle and tire.my car with Lensos and MT 8" slicks has very little clearance.if i go anything over .5" more,i'll need a spacer.

yea my friend ran some 10" wide Kuhmo slicks on his 8" wide rims. It looked nuts.
i was thinking of doing the same. i believe the tires that i'm going to use are the M&T drag slicks. these tires require the tubes so would that make any difference or i could still rock then on my 8" wide rims??

well the tires that im going to buy are the M/Ts that require the tubes. I'm getting them brand new from a friend, but they are for his rear wheel drive muscle car. would that make any difference that they are for a rear wheel drive??
is there a disadvantage of running tubed tires?? i know it sucks that i have to have a hole drill into the rims that im putting the tires on.

I've never heard of slicks that require tubes, we have ran both the FWD and RWD slicks and have never used tubes. It's up to you. They may leak a tiny bit if they sit for a while (even with the screws) but you do not need tubes.
