if you have a 5spd, check your clutch fluid and be sure it's filled up

dont bother checking or changing no fluids or master/slave. its the clutch. i went thru the same thing about a month ago, wishing/hoping it was anything but the clutch but your gonna have to face it, and get a new clutch ASAP.

Here's an update, i took my car to my girlfriends house and told her dad exactly what was wrong with it. He says its the clutch pump, can i get anybody to confirm that or other ideas?

clutch pump??...umm clutch master cyl. And i highly doubt thats the problem. It shouldnt get hard to press the pedal. It sounds like the pressure plate to me. Pull the tranny.

if it is a fluid problem... you can normally pump the clutch a few times to build up pressure and shift......

however its sounds like a problem that will require taking the tranny off to figure out.....

good luck...

dude, sounds more like its ur clutch itself. it happened to my friend b4, the car would be impossible to shift, then u shut the car off and start it back up and you can throw the gears a few times (maybe). if its the clutch cylinders you'll see a leak and notice the fluid is low. and even then you'll still be able to shift (after pumping the hell outta it). vibration in the pedal isn't consistent with the cylinders either. but if ya wanna replace the master cylinder + slave cylinder, it'll be less than 200 bucks usually.

Why do people give advice like "I had a friend who had this happen..." and then stand behind their guess like they know what they're talking about?

This isnt the case here but it is very possible to have a blown inner seal on the master cylinder causing blow-by and still have the outer seal/dust seal retain the hydraulic oil.

found the problem, it wasnt the master cylinder, it was the slave, it wasnt sending pressure becuz it was scratching. i guess thats why when i left the clutch in a while it would disengage, becuz the slave clutch was slowly letting go. thx for the help
