Default Car died after I stopped in my driveway.

Well, I just had gotten the car running good enough to drive to and from work until I have time to swap it. Did a lot of maintanence to it. Changed the oil, changed tranny fluid, new air filter, new spark plugs, new battery, new fuel filter, valve cover gaskets and grommets, and new axles. It sat for about a year before I did all of this but the more I drove it after I did the maintanence, the better is seemed to run. All of a sudden as I was pulling in my driveway yesterday it started idling very rough and eventually died. Then when I tried to crank it all it would do was turn over but wouldn't crank. Does this sound like a fuel pump to anybody? I appreciate any hewlp guys.

Just tried it again and it cranks sometimes. Is the fuel pump supposed to come on everytime I turn the ignition on? It only comes on maybe once out of 5 times and then it cranks. Could the fuel pump be going bad or does it sound like a relay?

take the relay out, take the cover off and check for cracked solder points. you can either resolder if needed or buy a new one for like $60.

Is the relay located under the dash with the fuse panel? I took that one out and it still crunk and ran. I'm guessing that I pulled the wrong one? So the fuel pump is supposed to kick on everytime I turn the key all the way off and then try to crank it again?

every time you turn the key to the on position (right before crank positoin) the fuel pump will turn on for just about 3 seconds to built pressure in the fual line for start up. you could eith er have a friend listen fro the fuel pump sound or just disconect the fuel line and turn the key to see if it sprays. if that is all working check for spark. take a spark plug out and put it in the spark plug wire like you would normaly then put the threads on the spark plug to a ground on the enigne. like the valve cover. than have a friend crank the motor over to see if it sparks at all.

Ok, maybe the relay I pulled wasn't the main relay, I'll have to check that again. Like I saidh though, the fuel pump definately isn't kicking on everytime.
