turn signal >> foglight conversion anyone?
does anyone have any insight on converting the bottom turn signals into foglights? if it's possible. my friend owns a 95 accord and we were talking about it the other day. from what i understand is that there's two turn signals per side? and the bottom are just going to waste. used the search engine but all i got was oem fogs or aftermarket. any info on this would be greatly appreciated. if this sounds noob to you please, alt+f4 right now. i dont even own an accord.
Well it will take some splicing....But not really worth it becaue that realy will burn up after a while... but all you have to do is send it power threw a toggle.. or you can splice it straight to your head lights
what will burn up after awhile? would it not be cheaper this way than going out and buying an aftermarket or oem fogs? sorry for the noob questions. im not good with headlights nd such.
thanks for the input.

There's a writeup out there somewhere on it but it isn't on honda-tech. I can't remember the site but its very good and thorough. You might want to try accordinglydone.com or google, its been a while since I've seen it, sorry i can't remember.
the reflector for the signal is design to project max amount of light to the car driver in front of you, if you make a fog light with the same reflector, it's a constant glare light, not to mention it will provide anything good in term of light coverage.
retro fit it with something maybe?

haha im a real noob when it comes to headlights. umm by splicing the wires you mean by splicing the headlight wires to the turn signals right? so they turn on with it. how hard would it be to install a seperate switch to actuate this? anyone know how to do this? or a writeup? thanks a lot.

Hmm, odd, the only turn signals I have on my car would be the ones on the bumper, the corner lights do not blink. I looked into it for awhile, the best thing to do is get a relay, and get it to be powered on all the time, and then when a ground is received (i'm assuming that's how the turn signal works) It'll trip the relay into flashing it. I just decided against it and went with real fogs
yeah. my friend's gona replace the yellow housings for white ones. but i thought the corner ones were blinkers as well. at least it was for his 95. muffinman if your sides don't do anything, what are they for? you sure they might not just be burned out? as i said i don't even own an accord [ got a lude ] im just basing stuff off what i saw off my buddy's accord. thanks for the help.
haha yep, mine are just corner lights, they just light up (i have blackhoused depos now)but they've never blinked to my knowledge. I thought it was odd myself, but it works for me. I guess it's possible I have maybe a fuse or something burned out for them, but who knows?
I did this mod as well on my 95. I bought a 1157 socket and removed the factory socket and purchased dual filament bulbs as well. Mine light up and blink.
I used this site:

It's pretty easy ounce you've gotten started you'll see what needs to be done. Mine have been done for over a year with no problems.

He's on it. You have to use a 1157 socket to take the dual filament bulb. The burning out is caused by using one filament and it overheats.
It wont be a foglight but more or less like a parking light. The corners on the 5th gens should blink. Theres two bulbs and the outer ones blink in conjunction to the bottom ones. They alternate blinking. The two inner ones in the corner dont blink at all.
If you switch to the JDM corners theres only one bulb and it doesnt blink.

the corner lights only blink as signal on the 94-95 models. due to the "elongated bumper lense" on the 96-97 they didnt feel it was necessary for the corner light to blink as well

I've had mine this way for over 5 years. never had a problem with relays or duel filiment bulbs burning out. Also because of my cars lowered ride height I dont belive I'm blinding any drivers and this really does aid in lighting up the road in front of you.
lookin' good.
jw but how is yours set up?
oh and just a quick question.
how does the dual filament bulbs prevent them from burning out quicker?
cuz my 5th gen has those for the brake lights.
i just replaced them a month ago.
they're the ones where they are on constantly and glow brighter when you press the brake.
thanks.

Granted they're larger, I still don't think you can see them from the side haha. And VTEC, it just prevents one filament from being owned for being on 100% and flashing. One would stay on and the other blinks.
