Help.....WTF is wrong with my suspension?
Ok, so I just installed new springs and shocks. Before I did, my rear would make this noise when I went over even small bumps. It's hard to explain, but it sounded like a hollow knocking noise. Anyways, it still does it now that I have my new **** in. I know this is a sorry explanation, but does anybody know what it might be?
Probably standard run of the mill shock knock... search (if it is working) HT. You can also find a slew of info on hondaprelude.com or just use a internet search engine.. surly you will find the answer... the internet knows everything
check your upper strut mounts - the big rubber part with the studs that goes up through the fender. those might need to be replaced. when those gets worn out they can make it sound like you described. mine are doing the same thing, i just haven't replaced them yet.
are your bump-stops in place?...... something like that happened to my friend, and we've discovered that the dumb-a$$ who installed his suspension forgot to put the bump stops back in......
Thanks for the replies. After doing some more research it seems that it is shock knock. The bump stops were a little worn, but I don't think that is the problem. I found an article on how to fix the shock knock. It says it is a pretty common problem with Preludes and that I need to add some more shims to the upper strut assembly. Hopefully that will work.
