i made the mistake of going to an autocross and now i'm hooked. i have a 99 si w/ kyb agx and ots ground controls. i want to up the spring rates a little, now my question is how much can the agx handle reliably? i was thinking like upping the rear to 350 and leaving the front where it is. or swapping the front to the rear and getting like 375 in front. which would seem like the better option? i know this suspension setup isn't optimal but i never planned on tracking the car when i purchased it, and for daily driving i can't complain at all about it, i just want something a little better to hold me over till i save and get something alot better.
They can't. Honestly, if you are going to Auto-X, get rid of that setup all together and go with a Koni/GC combo with custom rates.

do you have personal experience? do autox? anymore info as to why you say this, because others say they can handle more, just looking for other opinions. as i already said i'm going to get something else down the road. i'll ride these till they blow i'm not trying to be some kind of autox allstar, it's just for fun a couple times a month, and they are great for daily driving. not trying to sound like a dick but i get sick of the whole "ditch what you got and get this" or "gc/koni rocks" when most of the people who say that crap don't have it themselves but their brothers cousins uncle saw this thread once upon a time that said thats what everyone should have. thanks for your opinion.
You'll be fine with that setup for friendly/fun autox. I've been running four-year-old AGX's with Skunk2 coilover sleeves, (springrates - 447f/335r) all of this 2006 season, (total eight events so far) and I've been getting very good times in my sohc ex coupe. Just have fun and learn how your car drives for the time being...no need to go out and spend tons of money at first. I have the shocks set at full stiff all the time...they have been holding up great.
Good luck and have fun.

I'd suggest keeping what you have for now and just go out and drive. If you get anything right now I'd suggest a larger rear sway bar. You can play with higher rates later on. In some ways I regret having 400lb rear springs. Some people say this is a low rate, but to me it's a bit too stiff for the roads around here.
The benefit of stiffer springs for the 1% of the time I "need" them isn't as big as the downside of the stiff springs during the 99.9% of the time I'm just driving on the streets.

thanks for the comments. i plan on keeping what i have for a while, i'm in no rush for a complete upgrade. i see the agx are taking a lot higher rates than mine. i think i'll just get some 325 for the rear and call it a day until i get more events under my belt.

Hi, just my 2 cents. Keep in mind the shocks are valved differently front to back. If you run higher spring rates in the rear, you may find the ride bouncy. A lot of the guys running 400+ in the rear have specially valved Konis to handle them. I'm running 350f 250r on my reds after carefully consideration, and the ride is great. I may go stiffer in the future, but only when I can upgrade the rear shocks. Ryan
