NO all efs and da's you have to drop the fuel tank. What you see under the rear seat is only the fuel level sender, the fuel pump is on the gas tank near the rear passenger wheel. Also the dsm's turbo pumps work too and they flow really well!!

Yea that is the fuel level sensor, I thought I would grab one from the salvage yard for a spare, thinking it was just a few screws ( I already had taken all the Si interior out ), Nope, you gotta drop the tank... An aftermarket fuel pump that flows 255lph is only like $115, so just do it right the first time, if not one day you may have to drop the tank again...

I did mine with a 3/4 full tank by myself and it sucked but it didn't crush me (don't ask why I didn't drain it because there is no good reason other than me being lazy). The back of the tank will come down first due to the position and the way it is strapped to the car. I jacked the car up high on stands, and put the jack under the tank to let the tank down slowly.

I recommend getting an extra set of bolts for the straps as mine basically just broke off on the way out. I couldn't get the honda bolts, so I just bent some strong grade bolts of the same size and put them in.

The hardest part of the entire thing is taking all of the hoses off of the tank IMO.

Good luck.

We replace fuel pumps at are shop alot. Mostly Dodge caravans, and GM cars. Most of them you need to drop the tank. We always try to empty the tanks before we drop them. I haven't done a civic yet but I am sure I will be doing mine soon. If the stock pump still runs you can take the fuel line off the rail and jump the relay to pump all the gas out. We have a 30 gallon drum we keep it in but if you have a 3-5 gallon gas container that will work.
