Default O2 Sensor problem

Im having a problem with my car. I have a 2000 Accord with an OBD1 H22a in it. Its throwing a code 1 for primary o2 sensor. So i changed the sensor and i reset it and still throwing it. I had a shop look at the wiring and it looks like everything is working fine. My air/fuel gauge seems to work and move around, so my question to you is, If i tune the motor at a dyno shop using my V-afc can I just let it still throw the CEL for the O2 sensor without it affecting the performance of the car since I am altering the air/fuel ration using the V-AFC? Much appreciated ahead of time !
