88 CRX HF to SI tranny swap questions!
I am swapping a d16z6 into my 88 HF CRX, I have been told that I need to swap the axles and hubs also, but what all with the hubs needs to be swapped. Do I need to swap the whole braking setup also (rotors, calipers etc). What are all the parts I will need for this swap besides the SI tranny and the SI axles. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
use your HF axles, then you DONT need to change the hubs or brakes ect. but if you want to use the Si axles you will need to change all that crap.
but i will repeat my self, you dont need to use Si axles your HF axles will work fine...

Wow...are you POSITIVE they will work, because quite a few people have told me otherwise, but if they will work with NO problems then I will reuse my HF axles which will make the whole thing MUCH MUCH easier.

hf axles will work. what year si motor is it? 88's have 21 spline (crxsi) while non 88 has 26 i believe. ifs its not an 88 trans you may encounter probs. if the axles fit your good to go.
mabey the 88 rule only applies to hatches i dunno

well the car I have now is an 88....but that tranny is going bye bye. I am puttin IN a 90 SI tranny to go with my 93 D16Z6....if the HF axles will work with the 90 SI tranny then that will be awesome. Anyone know for SURE (as in have done it) because I need to know before I buy the axles and everything. Thanks a bunch.
i know for a fact that you can use HF axles with a Si tranny and your STOCK HF hubs. i had a Si tranny on my ZC for a while (it blew up) with HF axles they fit fine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and the 88 tranny thing (my trannies are 88's, the Si and HF) the input shaft (the part that the clutch spins on) has 21 splines and the 89-91's only have 20. this has NOTHING to do with the axles though. it does mean you need a clutch that matches your flywheel/tranny. so if your still using your stock 88 flywheel you will want to use a 89 clutch with the 90 tranny (the 90-91 has a bigger surface area on the flywheel, the 89 has the same as a 88)
did you get all that?

turbohf is right on! The other spline issue (26 or 23) is related to the hubs. HF & STD are 23 while the Si, DX, LX & EX are all 26.
OK....if I am using the flywheel off of the D16Z6 and the 90 SI tranny I will just bolt the tranny right up to the engine correct? Won't have to use any different clutches or anything. Thanks for all the help, saved me a lot of time/money
