Deck not giving out sound
i recently try hooking up a 1200 watt amp 2 channel to my front speakers on to my alpine hu. but it kept blowing fuses on the amp.
so i decided to just forget it and just hook up my speakers to the hu w/o the amp. but now the deck turns on but doesnt give out sound to the speakers.
i checked all the wiring and re did it. and i try changing speakers.. and still the same..
the hu is messed up??

The first thing I would check for is blown speaker(s)

nope. i re did everything. and i made sure i did it right. cause its always worked before but when that amp came in it messed up.
since you said i might have done it wrong. i just re-did one speaker to make sure
again. and still nothing
could it be the deck???

If you connect the HU directly to speakers you know work and still get no sound then it is a good bet it's the HU, or there is a short someplace, and the HUs protection circuits are keeping it from turning on.
When I say directly I mean directly, disconnect all the HUs speaker leads, make sure that the HU has a good ground, [oem radio harness ground will work for test] and make sure you have power on both the red acc. lead and the yellow constant power lead, again the acc. and constant in the oem radio harness will work for the test, [as long as the fuses are good] then connect one of the speaker outputs to a speaker that you know works.
What is the model number of your Alpine HU?

its an alpine cde-9843
when i turn on the deck the left speaker pops a little.. but no sound. i try hooking up the speakers straight from the HU but still nothing..
could it be the red and yellow that can cause that?? but im leaning more to the HU being messed up.

</TD></TR></TABLE> Did you try and connect a speaker directly the the speaker outputs of the HU, without using the cars speaker wire?
A "pop" from the left speaker when you turn on the HU may mean a short on the right side.
Although the outputs may be blown, it can just as well just be the HUs protection circuits that are keeping the internal amp from turning on.
To eliminate a short as the problem, try what I suggested before, disconnect the HU harness from the cars harness, [speaker wires] the red, black and yellow leads can be left connected to the oem radio harness, then using a speaker you know works, connect it directly to the HUs harness speaker leads, making sure non of the other speaker leads touch anything including each other, if you still get nothing, then its the HU, and you will need to fix it or get a new one.
Before anything is connected to the front speakers they need to be checked to make sure they are not shorted out, putting a 1200W amp on 50-75 watt speakers will do that.

yeah i did what you tried.. i took off the wires and connected the HU straight to my speakers w/o going thru all the wires from the doors. and still no sound.
i guess im gonna have to give it to my friends dad so he can fix it for me.
but what turboekcivic said...would it work if i just hooked up a smaller amp to the speakers? or would it still be messed up?

Yes in most cases if the HUs internal amps outputs are blown, you can still use the preamp, [RCA] outputs to get a signal to an off-board amp,

yeah. it was the HU output. cause i just got a deck from a friend and wired it up and it worked
and now the left speaker doesnt work. maybe it blew or i just wired it wrong. i was too lazy to figure it out cause its dark. but its good
