Default Cadence 6x9 for VTEC Sub

First time I've seen it, but it seems like a good substitute 150w RMS

is there even a spot for a 6x9 in a prelude? at least a 4th gen. i thought the rear middle speaker was a bit smaller then a 6x9? and the rest are 6.5's?

yea, JDM 4th gens came with a factory 6x9 sub (could be wrong about this) as the rear middle speaker, so it should fit there.

now that i see there finally is a 6x9 sub, i'm extremely interested in it, cuz i'm sick of loosing my entire trunk to a single 12" infinity in a ported box.

150rms is plenty for a mid range sub. If you want super thumpy bass you probably wouldn't be messing with a 6x9

Yeah the Vtec models have a 7 piece sound system including a 6x9 sub. I'm not sure that there is mounting depth to fit that beast of a magnet.

150w RMS is scary for a 6x9. I'm not sure what your talking about. I've seen 10" subs that are 150w RMS

I thought someone bought this before and it ended up not fitting in the factory spot.

Be careful when you purchase 6x9's with such a huge magnet on the back like that. I converted my type s prelude to have the vtec console and I tried to use a friend's 6x9 speaker and I had clearance issues. I dont know if the depth of the S prelude is different than the Vtec prelude but everything else fit correctly. I just put a Sony Xplod 6x9 back there and it sounds perfect. Your not going to get thumpy bass from that anyway. PLUS...i have to run a seperate amp because my S lude doesnt have the amp connector for that Honda amp on the bottom of the 6x9 bracket. Gay.

I just went out and measured mine and it will not fit unless you remove the rear panel on the seat, ie the panel at the very front part of the trunk.

I don't really think the OEM sub would power that thing all that well, but if you spend almost $200 on a sub you would probably buy an amp to go with it.

if you're gonna spend 200 on a sub it might as well be like a 10" or 12" right? Unless space is THAT big of an issue.

I think your confusing yourself. You have a Type S prelude which is 5th gen yet you converted it to VTEC console? I think you mean you have a Prelude S that you converted to the VTEC console. The Prelude Type S and Prelude S are two different animals. Secondly if you swaped it all including hte entire back seat assembly so you can have the 6x9 speaker in the back the clearance is exactly the same as any other 4th gen VTEC prelude. (Being you swapped everything)

I had also heard that Kicker Comp made a decent 6x9 mid range sub. I was thinking about getting that bad boy myself as my sub is blown but it's pretty had to find now as it was discontinued, but this one looks pretty good. I too am the type who doesn't like that clunky box floating around in the truck. I just want something that sounds decent, i'm not the type of g4ngst4 who likes to go around blasting my music so my damn license plate cover rattles, ugh so obnoxious.

Big magnet shound't be a problem. Not like there's any metal brackets behind it
