Default Engine Won't Rev over 5K

We just got my girlfriend's Integra out of the shop yesterday where they did a lot of body work and stereo work. It's been sitting for about 4 weeks, and when we first cranked it up, the check engine light came on. Car idled fine and everything. But then we got on the highway, and she radio'd me saying here car wouldn't rev over 4K. We pulled over and when she revved it in park, the car wouldn't go past 4K. It's like hitting the rev limiter. It would hit 4K and then bounce off, then do it again, and again. A couple of times, it did it at 2K. This was at 3AM, so we drove 100 miles home and then checked it again the next day.

The car wouldn't go past 5K, it did the same thing. I pulled the battery, and the CEL shut off, but the car is still doing it. Nothing was done to the engine while it was in the shop. The mileage shows that it was never driven. They did rewire the nitrous and the fuel pressure and A/F gauges. The funny thing is that now when you turn the headlights on, the fuel pressure gauge pegs at maximum and the A/F gauge just turns off. So I'm not sure what he did. But would that have anything to do with the engine not revving past 5K?

The engine idles fine, and runs fine up until 5K. It's a '00 LS with only 21K miles. Just I/H/E, the nitrous has never been used and the car was totally fine until it went into the shop. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Check the oil level, for one.

Where did they tap the AF guage...at the 02 sensor or at the ECU?

Well, it was already tapped before it went into the shop. At the O2 sensor. They just ended up rewiring some of it because they cleaned up the nitrous and stereo wiring.

The only code I'm getting is 1. I just blinks once and then pauses. 1 blink every 2 seconds means that I'm getting code 1 right? I let it do that for about 50 blinks just to make sure I was getting it right.

I guess the O2 sensor connection is messed up since code1 is for the O2 sensor. Would the wiring problem I'm talking about affect the O2 sensor? Since the A/F gauge is tapped into the O2 sensor wire. And would this O2 sensor problem cause the car to not rev over 5K? Thanks.

I experienced something like this with my old Turbo Accord. I fixed it buy replacing my spark plug wires. My Nologys were bought new and resulted to be defective.

not reving over 4k? Sounds like it could be ignition or tps sensor related.

Well, the car has Vitek wires, but they've been on there since September. I'll check them though.

And are there any reasons that the ignition or tps would go wrong? The car wasn't driven, it just sat for 4 weeks.

And I just unhooked the A/F gauge from the O2 sensor which shut off the CEL, but the car is still doing it. So if the ignition or tps went bad, wouldn't the car throw a code? The fuel pressure gauge is acting up now too. When the car is off, and the key is in, it reads 50 psi. But when the car is started, it drops to 45. And even when the car is revved up, it won't move from 45 psi. It used to read around 30 psi, and would go up to about 50 at full throttle. I can't figure out if it's the gauge is reading incorrectly, or if there is a fuel issue.

When the car hits 5K, it kind of bucks. You can see the engine rocking back and forth as the revs bounce off 5K. The idle is still normal and solid, and it runs fine.

Just pulled the wires and swapped them for stock. Still doing it. Do you think it could be a fuel related issue? Because when they were wiring up the nitrous, they had to mess with the fuel line some. It's a wet kit, and so we had to tap into the fuel line to install the nitrous fuel line as well as the fuel pressure gauge sensor. I wonder if when they were rewiring the nitrous, they messed up somewhere and the car's not getting fuel at 5K. That and the fact that the fuel pressure gauge is reading so weird.

I do appreciate it. It's stumping me and my friend's too. The ECU isn't throwing any more codes since I fixed the O2 problem, and yet the car is still doing it. So I'm going to check where we tapped into the fuel line soon, and see if that's the problem. I hope it is, I really don't want to have to take this car to the dealer. They're going to pop the hood, see the nitrous, and basically say the warranty is void even though we've never actually sprayed.
