How do you remove the ECU?
I read the thread on car security, and the theory of no ECU = no start seems pretty good. Anyway, I'd like to know how to do this just in case I have to park anywhere suspicious (anywhere aside from the garage).
you need a 10 mm wrench, a couple fingers, and a brain. Pull back the carpet under your glove box and you should be able to figure it out pretty easy.
Okay,
a 10mm wrench is a tool that you can use to remove bolts or nuts that are size 10mm.
The carpet under your glove box is basically just sitting there, pull it back, to the right next to the door there will be a goldish cover with a couple of 10mm nuts, I think there's 4. Remove all of them, then the cover will come off. now you should see a black piece of plastic with a bunch of wires running through it, pull the ecu off the bolts and turn it so that you can remove the 3 plugs in the end of it.
If you plan on doing this daily, i'd leave the 10mm bolts off and just throw it in there. hell, if you don't have anyone else riding with you, just leave the **** laying in the floor. Although the ecu isn't really large, about the size of your average paper-back book, it's an eye-sore, I couldn't imagine carrying the piece of **** around the mall all day.
If you couldn't understand that, just buy the club, or better yet, pull the fuse.

How fun is it going to be carrying around the ECU w/ you. Just pull the ECU fuse under the hood in the fuse box, Its same thing as removing the whole ECU, it'll even fit in your pocket!
Why not just install a hidden switch in series with the clutch (assuming you have a manual) fuel pump, or BLS (on autos) so any would be thief couldn't get it out of park? A bit easier than yanking a fuse or ECU.
