Default HX to EX

this is just a hypothetical, but wouldn't putting an ex head on an HX be a true bolt on affair, the block should already be set to deliver oil to the head since the HX is vtec too, and wiring would be a non issue as well....maybe a vafc to change fuel settings, and vtec engagement point, or just an ex ecu.

just out of curiosity.....anyone see any issues with that.

ex head will bolt the he HX block like it was ment to be there. no oil lines needed. it would be better to get a EX ecu, but your HX ecu will run it just fine (may be a lil to lean though).

I'm thinking it would be slightly higher than the ex since you will have much more top end, and and the HX aleady makes 115hp

HX's vtec-e just activates the 4 extra valves. when its not in vtec it just runs on 12 valves.

EX's is like dohc vtec (higher lift and duration) but it only works on the intake valves. all 16 valves work all the time in the EX

in japan they released 3-stage vtec which is a combination of the two. it was nuts cause it required 2 vtec solenoids.

hmm do they both have the same internals?

Stock HX....no....because the HX valve train is completely differant, and vtec activates far sooner than on an ex
