Looking to become a Teg owner
Well of course I'm new here but I have been browsing the site for the past few weeks. I am in the process of looking for a Gen 3 Teg mainly for a work car. I thought I had found a nice 98 GS 2dr but now the guy is backing out of the sell. It had 117k on it and he was asking 5600 for the car. It is bone stock Grn. Tan leather and a 5speed. the major flaw is the torn driver's seat. My previous work car was a 93 Acura Legend Coupe. I have never really been into the Sports Compact Car scene as my play toy is a 93 5.0 with some goodies. My brother is big into the import scene in VA Beach so I took his advice and started looking at Teg's. It really seems that they are hard to come by in this area especially looking for one that hsnt been modded and dogged to death. If I find one I will probably only change the stance and maybe do some wheels but I was sondering if you guys could give a brief list of the key things to look for on these cars. I found a few by searching but I know some people may try to hide some problems withthe cars so I thought I would ask the pro's what is best to look for. Also waht are the major differnces from the 94-97 and the 98 & Up models?
Below are some pics of the car I was looking at getting.

Minus the seat, which isnt really a big deal, probably fixable with some effort, it looks pretty good, Good paint, no noticable door dings from the pictures you posted relatively decent price, i'd try and talk him down to maybe around 5, looks like a rich neighborhood, so dont know how successfully you'll be. GL
yea I ws trying to get him to 5200 but I havent been able to contact him. I was suppsoe to meet him to get it tomorrow but no answer of return call. What price would a GSR go for in that shape. I may hold out and go that route as everything i have had before has had good power so I am wondering how I will like 140hp in a daily driver. My SUV only has 183 but its a 4Runner and I cant drive my mustang daily. I like the GSR and its ability to be modded but I wanted to stay under 5500 for a daily work car but get something in good shape also.
You should be able to get a really clean 94-95 GSR for around that price or less. Which is a lot better than a 98+ LS IMO. Look in the Vehicles for Sale or the Regional classifieds at http://hondamarketplace.com
Great price on that car. LS/GSR is good either way. Dont be picky when you have a dual cam motor. They are both moderately peppy in stock form. The head flow on the GSR is obviously better, but also more of an attraction for theives if you live in a rough area. All comes down to what type of money you have available and what you want out of the car. GS= GSR without the B18C, thats the only big difference really.
Well he just called and that car was sold a couple of hours ago for 5500. I jsut found another one just like it on line except its a 95 Special edition with perfect interior, Automatic, one owner with 110k on the odometer. They are asking 6200 which seems high to me. Am i wrong?

Some guy was claiming 11 sec. 0-60 times for his bolt-on Auto G3 Teg awhile back. And I believe it too. DON'T buy an auto teg, the motor really needs more gears than 4 to stay in the powerband, not to mention drivetrain loss. DO NOT BUY AN AUTO TEG. I cannot stress this enough, for your own good.
