Short Shifter swap write-up
I know most of you know how to do this, but I'll post it for those who don't, and yes I know there is a write up elsewhere... but it's not on H-T... so now one is.
It took me and a friend about 40 minutes to do this.
So first un-attach the **** from the boot by pulling the plastic part down ( May need assistance from flat head)
The unscrew the ****.
Next pull off the middle section of the center console. There are 3 screws on the side, and two below the climate control. Then take off the 4 main bolts with the bushings under them.

On top take out the bolt that holds the linkage in place.

okay this next photo I stole from another write up because I forgot to take it. Thank you--->http://absoluteprelude.com/for...ID=40
Remove the bolt that Ludinitup is pointing to.

Then drop the shifter out through the bottom of the assembly, and remove the two bolts holding in the bearing assembly, and the plastic cube off of the side pivot.
Swap them over to the short shifter.

Reinstall it through the bottom and lock the plastic cube in to place.

Bolt everything back in place.

Prior to replacing the console, your need to remove the plastic from the front of the shift boot retainer because the the linkage will knock into it at 1st, 3rd, and 5th. I chose to use a rotary tool with a drill bit to cut, and a sander to finish... wear glasses because it will throw molten globs of plastic everywhere.
Put it all back together and shift away.
Thank you Ludinitup at Absolute Prelude for the tips.

Go figure I was about to make a thread aking about a short shifter.

Forbidden hands down is the bomb. I love it. It cuts the throw by almost half, and feel solid at F***. No more loose as a goose shifter, and there is no time for your car to buck when you casually shift. Kiss that long *** 4th->5th throw goodbye. When you give it hell it just flies to the next gear. Just make sure you set it to the top hole, it's the shortest throw. Shifts like a Miata.

I was so worried about breaking mine, I used channel locks to get it off so that the teeth wouldn't crack it. Just grease the hell out of it when you put the new one on.
