Started the LS swap; few questions
Doing an LS in my 91 hatch std. Won't go into details or do a write-up cuz it's been done a million times.
Before you flame, yes I did check the FAQ V2.0.
Running into an issue or two though. As we all know, the 91 hatch is OBD0. The LS motor is OBD1 (if I'm reading the stamps right, it's a 92 block...either way it's obd1).
The guy I got the motor from sent me with an OBD0 harness. Should I try to re-wire some crap to be obd0, or go find myself a good ole OBD1 LS harness?
Yes, I already got the OBD0-1 converter for in the cabin running and OBD1 LS ECU.
So that's question one...what to do with the harness.
Question 2. The axles. The civic is a 91 Std. Meaning the front hubs are 91 std...NOT Si (I've been told they are different). The transmission I got is a YS1 tranny (Correct me if wrong, but that's an Si cable tranny, right? He told me it was a GSR...but...) Will the stock DA (90-93 Integra) axles go straight in? If not, which axles do I need to look for.
So that's question two...will DA axles fit? If not, which to get?
That's all I've got for now. Thanks for the help. And please, if you're not certain on your answer...don't answer. Just read and learn (like me).
Thanks again.
Just to get you excited...

Oh...yeah, 'nother question. I need to get an ECU for this swap...the dude sent me and OBD0 JDM Si ECU...again, I wanna keep this as original as possible, so I need an LS OBD1 ECU...
Correct me if wrong, the OBD1 ECU is a PR4 ECU, correct?

1. The ls obd0 or obd1 harness will not work. unless you run a full integra harness. dash and engine bay. you need to modify your stock dpfi harness. First by converting to mpfi and then to obd1, inector clips...you said you allready have the jumper harness to run obd1? im a little confused.
2. integra axles will work. make sure to use a half shaft from a manual tranny and from the same year integra axels that you use. your stnd. hubs will not work. you need dx or si hubs. hf and stnd hubs are different.
3. Im not sure about the pr4. I do know that you can get any obd1 civic or integra ecu and chip it to run your b18.

theres an obd1 and obd0 pr4 ecu...its pretty simple to tell obd0 from obd1 cause obd0 will have the little window for the ecu code light..
obd0 jdm si ecu? i guess that would be a pm7 dohc zc ecu.....
you'll need different hubs from a 88-91 civic or crx non hf or std to use those larger axles..
theres different versions of the ys1 tranny...theres the 92-93 usdm gsr,,92-93 jdm integra xsi,and the usdm 90-91 and 92-93 ls integra trannys..
you're correct about the axles, the 90-93 integra will fit fine with that tranny/block combo as long as you have the 90-93 integra halfshaft

Ok, let's see if I can clarify some things, and confirm my understandings on others.
1. 90-93 will fit with complimenting halfshaft and swapped hubs.
2. The YS1 Tranny...there's not really a way for me to know what it's out of just yet...
3. The jumper harness is a harness in which one end will connect to the plugs that would normally go into my OBD0 ECU in the cabin. The other end is set up to plug into an OBD1 ECU.
4. The ECU that I was given with the engine is marked with "PW0" on the sticker, and it's definitly OBD0 (has the window/LED). Written (in hand) on the ECU is "JDM B16A Si". I don't think I can use this ECU, so I plan to sell it if I can't.
I hope the harness/ECU discussed in 3 will help you to help me a little more...
Basically I'm now needing help with which ECU to use, and engine harness to use.
Also, if you find a link in which someone did a writeup on an LS into EF, let me know. I'd be happy to look it over.

3. Well,I have an OBD0 B16 harness...would it be easier to modify this?
4. Can I use this ECU? or should I sell it and get a different one?
Seriously, your help is a million times appreciated it. You too, Mr. Speaker. This isn't the first you've helped. Thanks a ton.

1. sorry i dont know. Ill tell you what I think though. The obd0 b16 harness is probably very similar to an integra harness. the only way you can use it is if you get the entire harness. engine bay and dash. BUT, you can use the injector clips off of that b16 harness and dremel them out a bit to run obd1 injecors. I think your best bet is too convert from dpfi to mpfi and obd1. using your stock 91 stnd harness.
2.If your going obd1 then that ecu is useluss. sell it.

first the 92 ls is still obd0.....and u can use ur stock harnes 4 the swap and yah u do need new hubs.....and ls axlessuse the jumper 4 the obd1 ecu 2 make it obd1.....i have the same setup in my rex....works gr8....
Blk, I'm not sure I get what you're saying...
He claims the motor to be OBD1, but the stamp on the head (you know, the four circles with two digits on the front?) shows "92" so I'm assuming the motor is 92..
How can I check if this motor is OBD1 or 0, and/or what would i need to do to change it?
I'm hoping the guy didn't bullshit some stuff and just confuse me, further

You know what the code is for an OBD1 LS ECU?
Jumper - Check
OBD1 LS Dizzy - Check (I think, gonna double check)
OBD1 Alternator - Hunting now
Switch harness to MPFI - Looking for a write up
OBD0-OBD1 Engine harness, is there a harness fo rthis or should I check online for a convert?
Posting for sale - OBD0 B16 JDM ECU and OBD2 alternator
Someone told me there was a difference in the DX and Si hubs...someone please shine light on if he is right, or the dude that posted in here is right...

Sorry, I keep thinking more and more.
I'm going to use the D-series harness on the OBD1 LS motor. In order to do this I have to:
(Please double check me)
Convert the DPFI harness to use OBD1 MPFI injectors
Convert the OBD0 alternator plug to an OBD1 alternator plug
Convert the OBD0 Distributor plug(s) to OBD1 distributor plugs
Convert the 2-wire OBD0 O2 sensor plugs to an OBD1 4-wire O2 sensor
Done...right?

Theres the 92-93 pr4 obd1 and the 94-95 p75 obd1 ecu's that will work..you dont need to change the alternator plug..
The dx and si hubs will both work with this setup....The only ones to stay away from are the STD and HF,,as they're to small to except the larger axles

holy crap, learn to use commas and periods. YOU NEED NEW HUBS. si and dx are the same. guaranteed. the only difference between the obd0 and 1 ls is the injectors and dizzy plugs, the main ones. In the faq2.0 section it talks alot about mpfi swaps. If you have the money. send your harness to rywire.com. they will take your harness and make it plug and play with your new motor.

Thank you...
Just ordered my mounts from someone on here. Linkage may be on the way soon.
Do you know of anyone cheaper than rywire? If I could find someone to do it for less, that'd be awesome...
Which OBD1 LS ECU is better, speaker?

ive never looked at the p75 maps, but i would get the pr4 anyway,it's always cheaper and thats what was originally on your motor to. just make sure its really obd1 and the seller isnt trying to screw you.
Outstanding, PR4 it is...
Keep an eye out, for me, though, for someone cheaper than the 280 rywire wants for the wire conversion...sheesh. I could do the 160...

I friggin' SUCK with electronics. I can't tell you how many times I've shocked the **** outta myself...for example, bolting down something, I laid the ratchet across both terminals of the battery...
I'll take a look at the links and let you know what I choose to do...

How can I tell if the injectors I've got are OBD1 or 0? As stated, he claims the block is OBD1, but the injectors hooked up to the OBD0 wiring harness he gave me.
If they are OBD0 injectors, should I stick with obd0 injectors on my OBD1 build, or am I going to need to switch to OBD1?
If they are OBD0 injectors, should I stick with obd0 injectors on my OBD1 build, or am I going to need to switch to OBD1?
Why not just stay OBD0 save your self some headaches, I currently run a B18b (94-95 Teg) its is a simple plug and play swap into my Si, should be similar other than the MPFI conversion and OBD0 parts will be cheaper and easy to find, as for the injectors 90-93 tegs all use resistor boxes so I believe they are all similar so you can run either...need someone to back that up but I am sure the 92-93 tegs injectors are low impedance?
Anways to stay OBD 0 you need a 90-91 LS dizzy and a OBD0 PR4 eco...or you can just send the PW0 Ecu to get chipped to run an LS motor but its acctually cheaper to get a PR4 they sell for dirt cheap or even a 90-91 PM6 and again chip that, you have a couple options
Also the YS1 trans came in the 92-93 LS and GSR along with some JDM cars you pretty much will have no idea what it is untill it is in the car but it kind of sounds like he had a B16 swap and sold you parts...just checking but are you sre you have an LS motor? its stamped B18a1? Just checking since everything else you have is for a B16 swap...
