Default Koni ride height clip

I just installed my koni's and neuspeed springs and found the height to be really high compared to the neuspeed springs and gr-2 struts. I noticed that there is a spot for the cir-clip to move the spring in a lower position. Is that what I am supposed to do or will that be too big of a gap for the springs.

Here is a pic and as you can see there is a clip where the spring holder sits on and then below it is another spot to move that clip to, anybody put it there or should I?

Take one of the wheels off, jack the vehicle up and take picture of the shock/spring assembly. Let us take a look.

I actually have the same question except I am using ground control coilovers. But yea, can you just relocate the clip one level down?

Put the spring seat on the koni and measure the difference from the lca bolt hole to the seat. Do this for the gr2's too. The gr2 seat will likly fall between to of the koni's circlip grooves. Once you have the diff you'll have to decide wheather your springs are stiff enough or the roads smooth enough to set the circlip in the lower position. I use the upper circlip groove to keep the extra shock length lowered Ludes so desperatly needs.

So with the springs on the koni strut on the upper level clip it is about 2 in higher than before with neuspeed and gr-2. I am going to go ahead and move it down to the lower position. If anyone can think of a reason not too, please let me know.

racerx told you the reason why you should NOT do this. The lower you go, the less travel you get out of your dampers. If your roads are smooth, then move it to the lower indent, just know you are taking away the the same amount of travel by doing this.

Is there any special way to remove these clips so as not to bend then or warp them? or are they pretty sturdy and retain their shape? Thanks

They're fairly tough, I wouldn't worry about bending them. Get a flat-head screwdriver and move one end of the clip out of the groove, then do the same on for the other end. You'll end up scratching the shocks, but it shouldn't be to bad. Use some lubricant to slide the circlip down to scratch less.

2 inches higher is way higher then just a little. Either those origional struts were some kinda lowering strut, or you did something wrong.

My guess is you did something wrong like put the spring cup on upside down. If thats the case DON'T DRIVE.

2 in is way too much to be acceptable

I used a piston ring spreader. Its also a good idea to get new cir-clips if you've been driving on the original ones for a while.

My circlips have never been used, I still have the konis in the box just waiting to put them on and then this question came up. Should I still pick up some new circlips?

I'm using those Koni's with Eibach Sportline, first time I put them on I moved the c-clip on the bottom and the cup upside down (lower), it handled great on the track, but very loud bangs on some potholes or uneven streets. Two weeks later oil started to leak from the adjuster and on the other one the adjuster didn't move at all. So when I replaced them I left the C-clip in the midlle and left the cup upside down, bought new bump stops and trimed them (the original changed to dust). That is the best setting for me low enough for track/ comfortable for street and no problems.

thanks guys your right I did put the spring seats upside down. Now I have to go take it apart again and flip it. I was wondering why the springs weren't form fitting and moving around a bit.
