S2000 Corvette Dispute
Okay, this is kind of childish of me...but my one friend, who is a Corvette enthusiast, insists that the S2000 is nowhere near the and will never be close to the level of the Corvette. He's not even talking about the C6, but he's so stubborn, so we ran a poll in my local Taco Bell. We asked 15 people S2000 or Corvette, and 12 said S2000. Given the fact that about 10 of them were complete idiots and didn't know the difference I won. Since then, he's been pissed at me for winning the poll, and insists on giving rental car companies and AA my phone number.
So, I ask you this as devoted S2K owners. Inform this man of his mistakes and simply let him know who the S2000 is not only a great car, but superior to his POS C5 Corvette. My name is Bob, and he is a good friend, so I'm allowing you to personally contact him via the telephone. [edited]. Don't be totally ignorant, just **** him off when you tell him the truth.
Like I said he's a good friend of mine, so I'm not worried about giving you his number, since he's done the same to me. [edited]

you should know that there are some nuts/wierdos on this bored and it would be 1000x safer to just put his email address or whatever.

I wouldnt put your FRIENDs # on the internet, the myspace is good enough. But I dont think the C5 vette is that impresive (not talking bout the Z06). The S2000 just has a better build quality to it. But chevy did a pretty good job with the C6 Vette. But there is a lot of different ways it could go if it was not stock comparison.
C5, in it's era, is clearly the best value dollar for dollar in a sports car in the world. For 1/3 of the money, it will do 90% of what Ferrari, Porsche or BMW's best shot will do.

if he's talking about the "legacy" of the corvette he's right, the vette has been around for 50 years,
in stock trim the s2k and c5 corvette are somewhat similar, but the potential is better on the c5.
I respect the corvettes

There's no doubt in my mind that the C5 is the better overall performing car. Bang for buck in the sports car world, it's hard to beat. While completely unrelated, IMO the C5's interior looks like complete *** and is built by monkeys.
With that said, I'd pick the s2k over a C5 (Yes, even the Z06) anyday.
A C6 though, is a different story.
P.S. Take this with a grain of salt, I'm a complete idiot.

The S is nice, but against a C5 ZO6, I wouldn't stand a chance. A regular C5 I might. The new C6, well I would lose that one as well.
I like Corvettes and feel they are a great car for the money.

Performance --- As much as I love the S2000, the C5 will OWN the S in just about every category. Doesn't matter which track the two cars race on--I'll put my money on the C5 any day of the week. (I'm talking about the non-Z06's)

Word.
The s2000 definitely beats the Vette in interior quality and fit/finish, but when it comes to performance the C5 has a clear advantage.

Most definitely. It's a shame that Chevrolet has let the Corvette become so popular these days. If they would have limited the production of it, I think it would be more of a novelty to own one.
But, I do agree that the quality and overall craftsmanship of the S2000 is top notch when compared to the C5. No matter what year Corvette you buy, you can't even get warranty coverage on the electrical system because it is so prone to failure and fire.
Both are great cars. This is an apples to oranges comparison for the most part.

A friend of mine whos owned like 8 supras, heads and cammed z06, ect ect ect ect... he used to always talk **** about my S2000 until he actually picked one up for a good price and now he says he loves the car and would buy it again in a heartbeat (he resold it like every other car he gets)
Moral of my story... let him drive the S2000!

The Z06 is somewhat of a "limited" model. I believe they produced about 6-7,000 every year in the US, which is about what the ITR's numbers were. The C6 Z06 is the only domestic sports car I'd ever own. The interior quality took a good leap for the C6's, as well.

i think i will be taking your money when i show you a some vids. Now i havent driven against a C5 personally. But on certain tracks the S hands the C5 its ***. Now im talking about a base model non-Z06 as what the OP is talking about. Sp if you want to put your money down on exactly what you said i already have small proof its null.
And the people driving the cars are not amateurs.
