My first ever time detailing and its on a black car.
I'm pretty impressed with how it turned out and had to show it off.
1. Wash with Meguirs NXT
2. CLay Magic Blue using the Meguires wash as lube
3. Wash again
4. Poorboys SSR2.5 on Edge Yellow Pad
5. Poorboys SSR1 on Edge Green Pad
6. Poorboys Pro-Polish on Edge Blue Pad X 4
7. Poorboys EXP on Edge White Pad x 3
8. Engine Cleaned
9. Undercarriage cleaned
All work was done with PC7424
The before pictures don't show how bad the paint really was, there were scratches and blemishes galore, the car is now 90% perfect.
The front lip had some scratches on it which I had painted and wet sanded. There are some chips that only a repaint will get out. So perhaps in the future ill paint the front end.

Thats as low as the Mugen Lowdowns sit, they don't get any lower. I guess im more into function.
This detail took 2 days to do.
Day 1. Clean wheels, wheel wells, underbody with pressure washer, Suspension, Engine.
Day 2 was all paint.
Notice how clean the block is. I'm pretty impressed with how much grease i got off the block

For the valve cover, just a bit of simple green diluted about 50 - 50. I only leave it on for maximum 1 mins. Make sure engine is cold though, then I scrub lightly turn the engine on and rinse it off.
I thought the products used were pretty good, no complaints really. But I would like to try other products just to see how they compare.
For you US guys Duragloss is an excellent cheap brand to use, some say its as good as Zaino. It's one of the best protectants out there (105 and aquawax). Not sure how good there swirl removers are though.

Very nice
My R is in worse shape than yours. I also recently picked up the PC 7336SP with LC pads and several of Megs pro line products and spent the better part of a day washing with Megs Gold Class and claying with Megs.
Then I started teaching myself how to use the PC. I picked the hood since it was the most afflicted and I could mess around and not worry about damage since if it really came down to it I could just have it repainted.
I Used the Megs #1 with a yellow pad but found out afterwards that it's not prescribed to be used with a DA polisher so I switched to Mothers Machine Polish while I wait on an order of Megs #82, #83 and #80. I also used Megs #9 with a Orange pad, #3 with a White pad and finished off with #26 with a black/grey pad.
It's truly awesome to see what a DA polisher and quality pads and product can achieve when you take some time and love and buff it all out. The BIGGEST difference besides removing the swirls and cobwebbing is the awesome blue flake that I can again see that just pops out on my NBP car. This black has alot of depth which I've missed for so long. But like I said my car is in worse shape than yours. It's just nice to see that much of the ill care and damage can be reversed with some effort and love and the PC.

Let me know when you're back from your honeymoon and either you come up to my place and we'll do yours or I'll pack it all up and come to you. We'll make it a Type-R wedding gift

Some simple green sprayed on 50/50 solution.
Then a good scrub with a toothbrush, then a rinse, I think its best to start with a cold block, and then when you need to rinse turn the engine on.

A tip:
Get some tire shine in an aresol spray bottle and spray the inside of your wheel wells. It makes the inside black plastic liner look brand new, and provides a nice glossy black background for your Volks.
Just the little things that make the car look new
Nice restore! Black cars are a sonofabitch.
