Default Cheap eBay headers compared to DC Sports and the like....

It appears my 94 4dr GSR has an exhaust leak from the exhaust manifold.

Rather than just trying to pop a new gasket in there, putting it all back in place and seeing if that fixed it, or spending the money on an OEM exhaust manifold. I figure I'll just get a header.

I've only bought a header once, and it was for my 95 Prelude Vtec (DC Sports). I never had a problem with this header. However I'm no longer that kid that street races. I just want to car to operate correctly, and have no leaks.

So I've been looking on eBay and found some dirt cheap headers for this car....and some really expensive headers as well. Are the cheap ones really frowned upon? If it's better than stock, and it fixes my leak, I'll be happy.

Any suggestions?

in my opinion i think both the aftermarket ebay brand works just as well as the expensive brands. only advantage you get from buying the expensive ones are they are legal, the ebay ones are not. so be careful but i've seen many people use the ebay brand and i dont see any problems with it. hp wise i dont know which makes more, but i would guess if one makes more than the other you wouldn't be able to notice a difference by just driving anyways.

The only thing can say is collector size but other than that since your going for a fix it not all out power...Go with the ebay header.

WRONG. Ebay headers, especially SS Autochrome, are known for leaking and fitment issues. Search around, there are dozens of H-T users who have had bad experiences with cheap >$100 headers.

Just one thread among many

OP: Go with a Megan Racing, just as good as the DC and only around $120-130 shipped. The extra $50 you spend will save you $ and headaches in the long run. Also stay away from OBX.

Megan is the DC sports, they are welded with similar welds, and the design of the two is alike

$130 shipped is reasonable.

I'll look into getting one and having it put on soon.

Thanks.

I bought a OBX 2 pieces 4-2-1 header for my GS, leaked like a motherffff. The gaskets it came with were garbage. If you HAD to go ebay style, I'd definitly stay with a 1 piece header, then at least you only have 2 spots it can leak...

+it was chrome when I got it, a month later it was a crappy dull goldish color - go ceramic

i guess i'm a lucky person or whatever but i know a lot of people that uses ebay brand as well as the competitor, me myself is using ssautocrome's turbo kit. for years now we never had a single problem. i have read and research around a lot in the past, yes ssautocrome is junk in the past, but they are improving their products, and a lot of people that is complaining of their products are due to incorrect installations.

Look around H-T there are literally DOZENS of people who have bad experiences with ebay headers, SS AC manifolds, etc. Their turbo manifolds especially are known to crack and leak. Not saying you're wrong, but, you're wrong.

i have read many of the threads created by the ones that stated their product failed on them, but also a lot of them post the exact same picture of the product. have you ever tried any of their products? i'm not saying their the best **** ever, but its incorrect for you to say i'm wrong about my facts. i never said they were the best **** ever, i just said you can see a difference on their changes of their product and whatever i have use is so far working just fine. like i stated before, i probably got lucky. i never disagree with any facts or with anybody's else experience with the company.

I'm not saying you're wrong just to talk ****. My buddy who owns a muffler shop that I have worked for flat out refuses to install ebay headers. Ricers bring them in every week and fitment and the welds just plain suck. Look around on here and at the seller's feedback on ebay, hopefully that will correct your misinformed opinion.
