91' CRX w/ D16Z6 engine keeps dying, someone please help?
The car was sitting before I purchased it yesterday (about 6 months to a year). It ran fine all through the morning and then around noon it died when I came to a stop light. I then had to wait a couple of minutes before it turned over, I would drive a block or so and it would die again. The temperature gauge says the temp was about a 1/3 of the way up from being cold. I know the engine is not overheating. I took it to a friend and they said it might be the fuel injector. Sometimes it there is no response when I push down the accelerator. The accelerator goes all the way to the floor with no resistance. It seems like there is no pressure when I push down. I was wondering if anyone had an idea to best go about fixing this problem?
does the car bog down before it dies? does the check engine light come on? try checking the ecu for codes and then check/change the o2 sensor
The car does not bog down at all before it dies. it will just die most of the time (usually when I am coming to a stop). Sometimes the gas pedal will drop to the floor like there is no pressure. The check engine light does come on, I am not sure if it is when the engine gets to a certain temperature or if it is when down shift and there are 4500rpm. I am not sure what is hooked up to the ECU. The person I had look at the car said the engine runs as is. I will have to wait until after Monday to check the ECU codes.
A theory of mine is the previous owner did not put the fuel injector for the D16Z6 engine. The fuel injector appears to be the stock fuel injector for a 91' Si. Could this be a possibility to my problem?
the obdo injetors are the same cc as long as he kept the resistor box you will have no problems out of the obdo injectors

^^Yep.
Are you hearing the fuel pump click on? Turn the key to the "on" position without your foot on the clutch and you should hear the fuel pump prime for two seconds. The main relay is the cause of a lot of problems with these cars.

Good info on the OBD-1/OBD-0 Ex/Si injectors. I just did an OBD-0>OBD-1 (p28 Z6) swap this weekendin my crx and I just used the CRX Si injectors (because I had the stock connectors for injectors) and I did use the resistor box.
