Default Toyo Proxes T1-R... good tire?

I'm looking for some good tires, being in Texas it doesn't ice very often, and rain is a seasonal thing. Majority of the tires' life would be in the heat. I want something thats going to STICK to the road, I like taking corners hard, I'm looking into tires and suspension right now.

Never tried the T1-R, i had the T1-S's on volks on my Evo...and they sucked compared to the stock advans, pretty much night and day. Type X seems to be preaching how good the Goodyear F1's are, i'll probably pick up a set of those to throw on my new volks

I got Ecstas too, for the money you can't go wrong with the Kumhos, a few people I know look down at them saying they are cheap-made pieces of doo-doo. But I absolutely love them. Almost 8,000 mi. and hardly any signs of wear

I have had a set of the Proxes T1R's on my GST eclipse, and my father has a set of them now on his S2000. they hold up in the rain fairly well if you don't drive it too hard in the rain.

Dry weather hadling is second to non. Some of the best tires I have ever used.

And since my Eclipse was boosted, they held up extremely well to about a 300 WHP turbo car. So I give them an overall

They wear fairly even, but they do wear a little quicker than a regular all season or normal DD street tire would.

don't spend that much money on that junk.......look at Hankook's RS-2's...great wet and dry performance, plus they're cheaper than the Toyo's

Toyo makes a very nice tire. I've driven a couple different cars with them with all different power outputs. I enjoyed them all.

Hankook's. Might as well just tape the money to the rim and watch it get wasted away.

I've had some entry level Kumho's and they were garbage. I've also heard nothing but amazing things about their new MX series so I might give them a try sometime.

If you want cheap but good, I have always been a huge fan of the Sumitomo HTRZ II's. Great grip in wet or dry and have a very deep V tread so they look good too. I've beaten them more than any other tire and they have FAR surpassed my expectation for the price. Good value!

I'm not sure of which model Hankook's they were but a buddy of mine had a set on an auto 96 DX civic... stock and he could break them loose. Pathetic traction. He said he paid a decent amount for them. He moved to the Toyo's and they were 100 times better.

well before you trash a certain model of tire make sure you know what the hell you are talking about....... Trust me the RS-2's are far better than any other tire they produce

lets not get all defensive on brands here everyone has opinions. I'm not worried about price that much, paying $400+ for a set wouldnt bother me if they were good tires.

Prior to my current car I have always run Falken tires, either Ziex or Azenis. The Ziex are a really great bargain for the price. I know a place by my house where I can get them $40/each!

The Michelin summer tires that are optional on the si are great tires too. They have the second highest overall rating on tirerack.

Hancook owns kuhmo they are really the same company!

Go to tirerack.com and check em out,

check out the kumho ecsta mx, they wear kinna fast but thats cuz they are soft and great "sticky" to the road!

really nice design for the treads and the side wall as well, a lot of my friends have gotten them once they saw and drove my car!

I had T1-S on my EK.. I loved them. They were great in wet and dry conditions and weren't noisy as fawk like Azenis. I'm sure the T1-R's could only be better.
