The Newest Type-R....
is a Civic....
http://www.worldcarfans.com/ne...japan
Another car we probably won't see stateside since the last R landed in 2001.... then we were given the ridiculous mac strutted EP3/DC5.... yes I'm still confused as to how Honda could make such a blunder with their suspension design.
mac strut is ok... just not the steering arm/rack where it was placed for a sport compact... I'm just glad the new Si is here....
Anyhow, I'm willing to bet a bunch of Canadians and some crazy Americans will start making Acura "CSX-Rs"

I understand there will be slightly more stability with a longer wheelbase, and I've seen successfully campaigned four doors, but I've never seen hard evidence that a four door handles better.

Pretty cool looking. I like the 4 door action
.
As for the "4 door handling better than the 2 door" debate, I heard Brian at Hasport talking about how the due to the B and C pillars being spaced out more that it offers more chassis rigidity. They built a DB with a K20 and an JRSC EP3 charger pumping out 280whp.

Probably a citation from a BMI years ago when Gansan was running literally door to door with an FD3S....

Are the stickers going to get bigger and bigger with every generation?
Regardless, let me just say i'm really pumped that Honda is pursuing the "Type R" trim.. Even if it's a four door civic.. That can only mean good things for the return of the Integra, hopefully a Honda this time around

I hope the production R doesn't have such a large sticker. Oh, here's what TOV had to say.

I quite like this CTR Prototype. Unlike the European Civic Type-R hatch, it isn't so far-fetched to imagine this sedan succeeding in the US. The hatch is too polarizing; not only is it a hatchback, with already supposedly eccentric European styling, it's designed to make even current Euro cars look dated. On top of that, the feature content would mean a high pricetag here. Of course, let's not forget the beam rear suspension, since that CTR is based on the Fit chassis. Despite all that, I am fond of the hatch.
Anyway, the sedan is sharp, and instantly fits as a Type-R to me. I'm curious about the engine. Jeff Palmer over at TOV posted that power is expected to be in excess of 220ps, and Honda engineers had conveyed some time ago that they had no trouble surpassing that.
Details on the rest of the car are scarce at this point, but already I hope Honda is seriously contemplating at least a limited run of 1500 for North America. The market has changed, and sedans (and even hatches, 3- and 5-door) are landing with 240-260, even 280-300bhp (AWD, of course).
I have to laugh though, at all the theads I've seen on different forums and blogs about this new CTR Prototype and the press release that it is the "Official Car" of the Japanese Grand Prix this weekend. So many goobs ask, "is this FWD econobox replacing the almighty Mercedes-Benz CLK 63 AMG as the Safety Car??!!1one"..
Why, yes.. nevermind the AMG is already driving *****-out to pace the field.
[/rant&rave]
American Honda persons looking in, please consider bringing this sweet car to the US market.

haha, bigger definitely, not so sure about better.
The UKDM/EDM CTR Concept had those same decals. When the production version was shown for the Paris Auto Show, they were gone.
Only a small badge on the rear.
