Default Oil Leak, with pictures. Looking for responses/confirmations.

Ok, discovered this oil leak on my Gsr. I'm having doubts that the distributor o-ring is the area for this leak, although signs are sort of pointing to that. I cant find the time to have a leakdown test performed until next week or so, which is why I'm asking to see if any other members have any feedback to my situation.

Here is the leak along the front of the block.

Here are shots from behind the Distributor area/ Backside of the Head.

And here is a shot from under the Distributor, where the head and transmission meet the block.

Any help is appreciated!

Dealer did not have it in stock, so special order is taking three days to get to me. I'm just looking for others to verify the issue and see if anyone else has another opinion.

I actually dont know for sure that its leaking from there. Its my assumption based on previously posted threads, my understanding, and other people's suggestions. Like I said in the previous posts, i'm looking for verification of the issue and/or other opinions or suggestions.

The VC gasket and the Spark Plug Rings were changed in the beginning of the year and never worked on the head since. If that were the case, wouldn't I notice oil coming from the gap where the VC is as it follows the outside wall of the head?

Which one? There's 2 hex head screws that have oil on them and are not screwed all the way in. I have never unscrewed either of them since I've had the car.

Is the Cam End Seal also known as the Cam Cap at the top edge of the head, closest to the VTEC solenoid? If so, I dont see a noticeable sign of a leak from there, unless i'm missing something.

If not, please elaborate. Thanks!

oh I thought it looked like oil was coming down from the exhaust cam's end seal. I replaced my old rubber one with a newer-style OEM plastic one with o-rings and it hasn't leaked in over 100K miles.

3 leaks from that side could be cam cap seal, dizzy o-ring, and or the vtec solenoid gasket.

If the Vtec Solenoid gasket was leaking, wouldn't the leak show from the front of the head, around the solenoid area?

And like I was saying to PatrickGSR94, if the cam cap seal, wouldn't the oil be leaking from the front as well?

Thanks for the suggestions, it helps deduct the culprits.

Any other help will be appreciated

I had the same leak & I did a search to find the culprit. People suggested everything said so far & it ended up being the O ring on the distributor.

Thanks for the reply 97Alex. I guess the only thing left to do is wait for special orders to come through and swap it out.

Thanks to those who replied...and any more suggestions are appreciated!
