Default Hood align, fixable with hinge adjust or not?

I have a hood that will not pop up when I pull the handle under dash.
I have to pull up after pulling handle to get it to pop to get access to the release under the hood. I have lubed the spring post and cannot tell what side it is catching on, there are no visible scrff marks on post.

Is it hinge align (I was careful to mark mount points during swap in 04)
Or is it the front end damage.
I hope it could be fixed with hinge adjust, otherwise it is a long wait, I am not doing bodywork on this puppy till I am happy under hood and in cabin.

Here are pics

i had the same problem, if you look at the thing inside the spring theres a notch where u can put a screw driver and adjust it so that it sticks out more or goes in more, try that

x2. Be prepared to lube the crap out of it before it moves though .

The hood might be off alignment, but you can make it latch right. Just adjust the alignment of the latch, it's easier than it looks.

Loosen the bolts that hold this on, and tighten them back up loosely.

How loose? Tight enough that the piece of metal doesn't slide around under it's own weight, but loose enough that you could slide it around with your hand.

Do the same thing to the bolts holding the other side of the latch on your core support.

then go to close your hood. Don't push it down far enough to latch. Just "put it in for a second, honey" a few times. This will make it align itself.

Now, tighten those bolts while being careful not to move either side of the latch off alignment.

There is one last piece to align, the length of the peg.

Lool at the thing. Loosen it up until your hood has some play when you close it, then tighten it up a little, check for play, etc.

Then bring the rubber bumpers at the corner of the hood out to fit snugly with the hood when it's closed. You know, not too loose, not too tight.

I must have been unclear

It is not a problem with the spring not holding the hood up.
The spring holds the hood up fine, once I pops it up.
Pulling the hood release does not get the hood to pop up though.
I have to pull it free of some blockage, like the post is not centered, b4 it will pop up on the spring.

I am moving the latch assbly on the front clip instead of trying to move the hood now.

Thanks for the advice

FIXED, kinda....

I moved the latch assmbly by loosening the 3 bolts and closing the hood.
This put it in a good spot.
It still scrubbed a bit and I found this was because the front collision that the prev owner had bent the front member and left the latch cylinder non vertical.
I took my tire iron and placed it in the cylinder and pushed back to straighten the cylinder and it poppes up now.
VOILA

the member is still deformed downward a bit cus the hood does not pop up as high as I like still. I may just put some washers under the spring for now as the post it latching the hood down tight and extending it only puts a wobble in the closed hood.

Thanks again guys
