Default What type of fluid to use in my 94 GS-R manual tranny????

I was wondering what would be a good fluid to use in my 94 GS-R manual tranny and how much syncro-mesh I should add on a complete drain & refill??

IF the tranny doesn't have any bad grinds or anything just use honda manual transmission fluid. If it has some slight grinds you might want to use synchromesh.

how much syncromesh? Do I add it like a additive or use just that for the complete fill? Also any idea on how many quarts it'll take?

oh boy another transmission fluid thread.

It's your choice really. Honda MTF or GM Syncromesh.

My personal choice: genuine GM Synchromesh Friction Modified, 100% with nothing else. My transmission is original at 237K miles. It's never had any grinding problems, but I started using the GM stuff around 165K and always shifts ultra smooth, even on single-digit temp. cold mornings, with a short-throw shifter.

I don't know the actual price, I've heard $11-$15/qt. for the friction modified stuff. I always get mine from a buddy at the Chevy dealer, he gets me 3 quarts and I give him $20.

Yes it's expensive, but you only have to change it every 25K miles, maybe even longer. So what's the big deal? Spend a little money on the good stuff and enjoy the smooth shifting.
