Default fog light wiring....

does anyone have a wiring diagram for how these things were wired from factory?

right now they are wired so that they never turn on, even if the fog light switch is on, until you turn on your headlights.

I'd like to wire them so that they turn on regardless the headlights are on or not.

does anyone have some kinda suggestion as to what to do/look for?

i'm really about to head down to the garage and start ripping apart my entire front end looking for this wire...

I have jdm headlights, which i guess make this alot worse...i know the purple wire is the power wire for the foglights...but i dont know where this goes

I have mine wired so i can turn them on whenever i want, regardless of whether or not the headlights are on or not, I believe the helms manual tells how to do it..i did it so long ago i cant remember exactly. It involves pulling a pin connector out and putting it in another place, but i can't remember exactly where.

All I have is the OEM installation instructions but I believe the key is in the wire that plugs behind the steering wheel. Apparently, this red wire is the one that carries power to the fogs. Try plugging it in to a constant power source and that may be all there is to it. Just remember, I've never actually tested this theory but I believe it should work. Good luck.

well the relay that your fog connects to has two power sources i believe (i rigged mine up w/my own parts)... one power source is to power the fogs.. the other power source is for the switch that is tapped into another power source (in your case, your headlights).
you just need to tap the wire that's from your fog light switch/relay going to your headlight into a constant power source (like maybe the ACCessories wire?) i have mine tapped into the parking lights... so i the fogs only turn on if at least the parking lights are on. that way, my dumb *** wont accidentally forget to turn it off when i park it somewhere

thanks 98r-1144 for the info, too bad i did not see this 5 hours before

you are right. basically you need a constant power supply...i used the cigarette lighter, so that if i forget to hit the switch off, if the car is turned off, the lights turn off

4 hours to figure that out for me...im a electrical dummy

Remember that there is a reason why fog lights are "on" only when headlights are "on" so you don't pull power from wires that are rated lower (e.g. parking lights).

If your fog lights are "on" when the parking lights are on, make sure you carry some extra fuse with you... you have a good chance of buring one up.

plug the red power wire (thick) directly into the fuse box, it will slide right onto one of the spare connectors. that's how i had mine

power wire goes here:
