Tail light issues...del sol
*UPDATE AT BOTTOM*
Ok I have a 95 Del Sol type S. I just found out a few days ago I have no parking light. Like when I turn my headlights on my tail lights don't come one (I think those are called parking lights). Anyways, my guage lights don't come on either.
Found the fuse, it was blown. Replaced with a 30 until I could go to the parts store and bam, blew as soon as I flipped the headlights one. So I assume there is a short. Whats the easiest was to track on down?

maybe look at the wires and check them all over for worn ones. Did you play around with the wires?
And there is no del sol type S, for the record. Its a del sol S.

LMAO, yeah I was looking at some RSX type S motors and was typing in this window at the same time.
No I got the car from my cousin about a month ago. Completely stock except a aftermarket cd player. Was going down the road and a guy pulled up and said my lights didn't come on unless I hit the brakes. Checked when I got home, and sure enough he was right.
Now the fuse for the AC/blower was blown also. My cousin had just pulled the cd player out to "fix" it before we traded cars. So I figured he touched some wires. The ac fuse is still fine, but it keeps blowing the lights/guage one.

take the radio out and check if you can find some bare wires or something. I remember dropping a penny in my cig lighter, my radio fuses would blow all the time. Are you using the right amperage fuses?
The right amp fuse for the tail lights? I didn't have any of the 10 amp fuses so I put a 30 in there long enough to go to the parts store. Turned them on and pop bye bye fuse. So I figure there was no point in putting a 10 in and trying it when it popped a 30.
He said he didn't know anything was wrong with them, and we traded right after he messed with the radio. So I'm thinking he might have screwed up a wire in there or something. If I just to the fuse out of the radio socket on the fuse box would that kill all the power to it and allow me to put a fuse in the tail light socket to easily exclude the radio?

yeah, doing this method isn't going to work (well it can but you have to be pretty lucky to find it slapping you in the face).
your best bet is to get a voltage meter, or even those little gound lights and trouble shoot it from there (when i said there i don't mean from behind the radio, start at the fuse box). this will be your most easist and most accurate way to find the short. also, make sure you put back the right amp size for the fuse.
electrical trouble shooting is the worst and time consuming, just make sure you take your time and be patient.

I have a voltage meter. What kind of procedure do I need to follow. I suck with electrical issues. How would I track it down using your method.

man, i don't have my meter with me. there are 2 ways (depending on the meter you have). on mine, i can set it to where there is a chime that goes off when in comtact with the shorted wire, or you can set it on the [DC] setting.
But how do I check. I mean I am totally lost at eletrical issues. Seriously, I am clueless to this stuff. Any faq/write ups you guys know about?
my friend has an integra which did the same thing my advice is to go to the back look where the lights plug in and follow it for me it was right there after the light turned up to be 1 ground wire turned into 2 so if u ask me the easiest way is to eyeball it and if something looks fishy or like its been electrical taped over take the tape off and check it
Your cousin just played with the cd player before you traded him. There is a wire in the radio harness that is for the radio dimmer. Some radios do not have dimmers in them so this wire doesn't get hooked up. It is left loose when it grounds out it will blow the fuse that you keep blowing. If you have a Plug n play harness look for the wire with illum or dim stamped on it should be an orange with white stripe at least it is on my harness. If he just cut the harness crimp caps on any unused wires to keep them from grounding out Do the same if he used a wiring harness. ALSO NEVER USE AN OVERSIZED FUSE LIKE THAT UNLESS YOU LIKE MELTING THINGS DOWN. Things are fused to keep bad things from happening if there is a problem in the wiring
I is a plug and play harness. He said the cd player was messed up and fixed it. I go the car then took it out and hooked my cd player up. I'm good when it comes to things like that though. Sauder all connectrions and use hear shrink with electrical tape over.
I am hoping it's something to do with the radio. I will be able to check if it ever quits raining.

Well I took the radio out, checked the wires. Looked good, so I unplugged some fuses that didn't go where they were. 30 amp's someone had stuck in. Plugged a correct fuse for the tail light in and they worked.
SO I left them on and had a friend stand behind and started putting the other fuses back in to see if it would short the tail fuse out. Nope, worked fine. Everything was working good. Went to start the car and won't start! Starter is working, checked fuses under hood and they were all fine. WTF!!!
It was dark so I didn't check for fuel/spark so I guess that's tomorros ordeal. Any ideas?
