Default My new project CRX

Hey guys, been on the boards here a long time but haven't really ever posted anything. Bought 2 CRX's last week and thought I'd post something about it.

Had my first CRX Si (90, black) a few years ago for a couple months, missed it so just picked up a red '88 Si last week. I was selling my commuter '90 DA teg GS and took the CRX as a partial trade. The interior was pretty poor condition, huge rip on the drivers seat, door panels and dash / center console painted a semi-gloss black (damn ricers), didn't have a climate control and there was a metal plate with an a/f guage mounted in it where the climate control was. Also was missing most of the rear-interior. Body is in decent condition and it has DA rear discs with master cylinder / booster / prop valve. Has 200k miles (320k k's), burns a little oil and has a slipping clutch.

A couple days after I bought the car I was looking through the local import forums for CRX parts for sale (seats / interior panels / motor swap etc). Well, here's what I found. Not quite my style but the price was right. It's an orange 88 Si with horrible kit that was rolled. Picked it up for $500, including a good condition SOHC ZC, mint Si tranny, decent suspension and full interior.

Here's the specs on the totalled one I picked up:

suspension:
-h&r sport springs
-kyb gr2 shocks
-omni power control arms
-front strut bar
-rear strut bar
-15" csa pursuits with carbon fibre insert, has some hankooks with about %70 treat left 195/50/15.

engine:
-jdm sohc zc with 177 km's
-short ram intake
-91 Si tranny with 150 km's

misc:
-short shifter
-grant steering wheel

Here's some pics of the project. All of these were taken by the previous owners. So far I've swapped the interior over to the red one, and wired in a climate control from a 92 Accord. This weekend I'll swap in the suspension and drivetrain. More pics to come.

And some of the ricey donor car before the crash:

You got it. I'm kinda impartial to them, but at least they look better than steelies.

Yeah, I have a set of Phonedials (86-87 CRX SIs) that are painted a dark grey. They look great, but I wish they were stock silver. I love stock Honda and Acura wheels. Your car looks nice from what I see. You need to snap some more in your progress.

what kind of exhaust is that? How does it sound? I'm in need of new exhaust, and I want something on there that sounds good...Not a fan at all of loud! I want something that is quiet at idle, kinda deep sounding, and not much louder at acceleartion, but retaining the deep sound.

It's some sort of magnaflow, haven't really looked at it yet. Sounds really good under part throttle and idle, not too loud and actually fairly deep and throaty (for a 1.6L anyways, nothing like my Prelude :D). Under full acceleration it gets pretty loud and over 5k rpm it gets that typical Civic crackle/buzz sound but I think that might be because there's no resonator.
