What kinda wire crimpers are you guys using?
Just curious what kind wire crimpers you guys are using for ring terminals, butt connectors, etcc. Im lookin for some good quality ones
For simple butt connectors I use these:

I've had them now for about 4 years, they work 10x better than the crappy Autozone ones I had before.

I use the AMP Tyco Electronics Hand Crimper. The Frame is about $75 and the die sets can range anywhere from $50 to $700. I think the die set for non-insulated connectors was like $50-75.
Ok ive got updated info for ya. You can get these crimpers on http://www.alliedelec.com . The AMP Pro Crimper II Frame Set is $66.00 Allied Stk#527-0108. The Die set I use for uninsulated connectors is $94.50 Allied Stk#527-0187. It will work with wire ranging from 22-10awg. Any other questions feel free to PM me.

Oh hell.
Like the guy above, I often use the AMP Solistrand terminals. These are un-insulated, so you have to heat shrink over them. This can suck if you're tired and crimp the damn connection before putting the heat shrink on the wire. The plus side, though, is that they aren't as thick as pre-insulated options, if you plan on heat shrinking the length of a bundle. If you're splicing multiple wires in the same bundle, stagger the splices so you don't end up with a big bulge.
I bought my AMP Pro Crimper II from Digi-key. Here are AMP part numbers and prices at Digi-key (www.digikey.com):
AMP 58546-1 - $118.50 <-- includes the 22-10 awg un-insulated terminal die set
AMP 31818 - $0.199 min. qty. of 10 <-- 22-16 awg butt splice
AMP 31819 - $0.216 min. qty. of 10 <-- 16-14 awg butt splice
AMP 32151 - $0.288 min. qty. of 10 <-- 12-10 awg butt splice
I'm pretty sure you can get the splices cheaper at other places; I think I bought my last bunch from Mouser (www.mouser.com).
AMP also has Solistrand un-insulated ring terminals, disconnects, etc. Unfortunately, their website is a big piece of ****, and you actually have to concentrate pretty hard just to find a freaking part number so you can try to order the crap somewhere.
There are two options for quality pre-insulated splices/terminals, Molex and Raychem (owned by AMP). The Raychem DuraSeal line and Molex Perma-Seal line are probably nearly identical in quality, the only difference being Raychem costs twice as much and the stupid *** crimp tool is impossible to find and much more expensive. The crimper appears to be the same style as the Molex though, so I imagine you could interchange them.
Item numbers for Molex from Waytek (www.waytekwire.com):
479 Perma-Seal crimp tool - $30.60
30980 - $0.2096 min. qty. of 24 <-- Perma-Seal butt splice - 20/18 awg
31980 - $0.2273 min. qty. of 22 <-- Perma-Seal butt splice - 16/14 awg
32980 - $0.2835 min. qty. of 18 <-- Perma-Seal butt splice - 12/10 awg
I guess I'm a little crazy about my wiring.

ditto.
we have some of those amp crimpers here at work and they are the business, but I'm not spending that for a pair for personal use when solder works just as well IMHO. The stuff we do at work is tiny, so they are totally worth the money here, most everything is 26ga or smaller.

I use one like this. It's MUCH more robust and makes MUCH better connections that the cheap ones you can find in most auto parts/hardware stores.

Yep... Out of all the audio installs I've done since 14yrs old, I find these to be the quickest, easiest to use (lots of leverage).

Hasport gets most of the pins direct from the manufacturer, in 5000 piece reels. To be honest, that crimper is not anywhere near as nice as the OEM machine, but it works pretty well for about a 1000 crimps, then its time to replace it.
